Australia is facing a crisis....yes, but has faced far more lethal crises before. April 25th. ANZAC Day. Reflection and perspective. In two World Wars, Korea and Vietnam Over 100,000 Australians have lost their lives through war. Many more thousands have been wounded, while the number of Australians who have served abroad in wartime is eight to nine times the number who have died. And Australians prevailed then and will now.

That's brilliant Wayne,

I'm hope that our Aussie members will have some sort of commemoration here in the Forum on ANZAC Day.

Instead of gathering at our local war memorial, city march past or RSL and maybe we can all send in a pictorial tribute to our fallen comrades as our joining together.

Really very nicely done vignettes and dioramas Wayne. I always enjoy your photographic offerings . . .

K&C's ALH range is outstanding and display so well!

Thanks for sharing Oz.
Yes it is a great range. I took a few quick photos with my smartphone yesterday for the Forum and Facebook. Not the best photos but at last members can see I've finally made some dioramas such as for the Vietnam display, took me over ten years to get around to it ^&grin

I now see that the RSL is promoting a Nationwide Dawn Service on ANZAC Day

All states and territories' RSL branches have cancelled public ANZAC Day services.

Instead, they are asking Australians to unite in recognising all armed services personnel by standing on their driveways at 6:00am for a combined dawn service.
"As a result of restrictions to this year's formal Anzac Day commemorations, the RSL encourages people to light up the dawn and remember and pay respects from home," an RSL South Australia spokesman said.
"This can take several forms including from the end of your driveway or within your home, with a candle or the light on your phone."
RSL SA said the qualities of the Anzac spirit — courage, endurance, humour, ingenuity, and mateship — were particularly applicable for Australians amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

That's such a bloody good idea John!

There's been no real discussion over here yet about ANZAC day due to the lock down, but knowing Kiwi's they'll come up with a similar plan I hope.

I'm working on the 25th so will be interesting to see what takes place.

Your Allies here in the Northern Hemisphere will neither forget what your brave ANZAC servicemen did fighting by our side in WWI, WWII and Korea, nor the fact that you stood with us in Vietnam, where many of our other traditional allies did not. I hope my Aussie and Kiwi brothers on this forum (especially Howard and Tom) will permit me to light a candle in my driveway on the 25th in remembrance of those who served, and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

5:30 a.m., April 25, 2020, Roslyn Harbor, New York. Your brothers in the United States have not forgotten. Bless you and thank you!
