I am finishing my first Luftwaffe dio . In this dio the Luftwaffe Volkswagen will play a major role. I had to repaint it to fit it in into the scene
painting was done using oil paint, Humbrol and Revell enamel and AK acrylics
hope you like it
I add a picture of the original so that you can compare

Guy mate,
Outstanding work cobber. We will have to change your name to "European Obee" as you seem to be in his league. I just love repaints and have a WS68 Puma and a WS101 Sdkfz 252 with young Obee to be repainted into DAK colourings.
Keep up the great work mate. I enjoy your postings.
Cheers Howard

Excellent job Guy, you are the master painter in Europe!

Looks really good! How did you get around the figure as he does not look as though he is removable?

Guy...

Would you not have found it easier to have removed the cab to allow you to repaint the driver in full? I have done many sets where I remove the whole cab ''gestapo arrest'' Tour of inspection'' ''Blitz'' and ''maultier'' to name a few and its easier to get them off than paint the figures like this or incomplete

Mitch, I did not touch the driver yet. The title says clearly "repaint of the Luftwaffe Volkswagen "

the title clearly says that but, RPZ asked how you got around the driver and you responded very carefully as he is not removable so, it looked as if you had painted around him in position. Do you plan on doing a repaint of the driver or are you leaving him. Only interested as taking these things apart is not as difficult as it seems. I usually apply dashboard decals etc when I have them apart as a little extra detail work when you look in the windows etc

Wayne my friend it will look completely different after it has received its final coat of matt varnish . The colours in reality are not so bright as they seem to be in the picture ( I think it has to do with the lighting when I took the pics)

I will paint only the visible part of the driver . I am a bit reluctant in taking it apart because of the driver who is hanging out of the window and I think not so simple to remove without damage ?

No problems each repainter and converter has their way. These things do remove very easily and, with no damage to the driver. On the beetle I use a small amount of debonder on the underneath where its adhered and then it removes and you just tilt it to towards the driver and slide it over his arm and head. To reapply its simply a case of repeating in reverse the steps of removal

Wayne . This is the colour I am after . The right Luftwaffe blue. K&C 's model looks more like a panzer grey model with only a small touch of blue

Hi Guy,

About the picture. Why is the VW right hand drive? I mean Germany cannot be producing for Britain or Australia, unless it is a right hand conversion after the war.

Your repaint is very good. So, not trying to be funny.

Thks,Chris

Hi Chris, it is a picture of an after the war restoration . It's driving around somewhere in Australia . But the colour used on the vehicle is the original Luftwaffe paint
