During World War I an Arab rebellion against Ottoman (Turkish) occupation in the Middle East occurred that was part of the Allied effort in Palestine and Syria. British and French advisors offered their support to local tribal leaders. The most famous of these advisors was T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"). Here we see a Sgt. of the Egyptian Camel Corps stopped at a well to refresh his camel.
