Hi all,

Stepping outside the WWII box again for a new range, as much as I've enjoyed the Crusaders I've gotten lately, I've been intrigued by the Romans, not so much for diorama settings but more for shelf display as with my Crusaders, anyway here's my first 2.

Thank you for the reminder. This is a great range.

Picked up my Roman flag bearer, these fine sets are a joy to collect.

That's an FL Roman?
I have overlooked these! that soldier on the rock looks great!
imparts a feeling of resolution, honor duty, and living the soldiers life of discomfort in the field. clearly he is dealing with a harsh winter, obvious even without that beautiful display base.
although he is well uniformed except perhaps for his hands. is his face painted as well as the parts I can see? I may have to get one and see if these are something to add?

Yes, I think they are some of the best faces FL have done

I've got a few of them and they are very nice.

Me too Wayne, thanks! That one sure is a great figure. The second one has really dilated pupils! lol

I love the rock, too.

Looking at this version of the Romans, I could not resist buying a couple.

Here another display. I am using Ikea display cases and mix FL with Russian miniatures.

The segmented sword arm guard was adopted from the Gladiators during the Dacian Wars to protect against the Falx. See page 16 of; Concord publications # 6002, Imperial Rome at War. The illustrations in this book by Angus McBride are superb and accurate. A great reference.

I've got a few of them and they are very nice.

Ok, I've received my first First Legion Roman. Really liked the pose and kit of this one. others had posted previously, so I started with this one., very nice. different than my more $ Aero Arts, but much to like. the scars on the shield, and the gritty look, as if actually in the field, the Aero Arts don't have. I'll get more!

Congratulations on the new pieces Sammy, happy to see you enjoying your new line. I starting with the Romans and bought the first two batches of figures but it just got to be one line to many.

Thanks Geb, right now doing more cherry picking from a few ranges then trying to complete full ranges, I've enjoyed having a little variety in my collection now.

You're killing me Sammy, I do my level best to stay focused on FL WWII and Crusaders...then start drooling over these Romans-lol {sm2}
