Hi Guys, I started building this ruined chapel a while back using a pile of plaster-paris bricks I picked up at a swap meet years ago. It's been in storage for a few months and isn't quite finished yet, but thought it was about time I posted something, so here goes. As you can see the photo's were taken outside, where it was blowing a gale, so I ended up losing some of the foliage.....{sm2}

My plan is to use it in a WW2 Normandy Dio that I'm very slowly building......anyway feel free to comment. I'm always interested in ideas, tips etc, this is my first attempt at scratch building and I've had fun doing it, although the stone work ended up darker than I wanted and I have no idea what a ruined medieval chapel should look like.

Cheers Toddy

Toddy,
Great job mate...first time effort? better than anything I can do:wink2:
Wayne.

Cheers Wayne......I actually ran out of bricks real fast, so had to do something to hide the short fall......{sm4}

Very good matey for a first attempt im impressed.
(I thought it would be ALL BLACK {sm4})

Keep thinking Kevin McLeod is going to appear with a couple who are going to do a grand design on it, looks worth saving. Love it, will make for one heck of a diorama. Robin.

Excellent Chapel Toddy and I knew you were a "bricky" from way back!{sm4}

Tom

Thanks Guys, much appreciated........the daughter helped upload and crop the pic's due to me being computer illiterate{sm5}

......and Tom you guessed it, I have been known to show a little 'crack' now and then{eek3}

Your Chapel looks great.
Did you make the windows too ?

Hiya......no I didn't make the windows. The bricks, windows, etc are made from plaster and came out of a set of moulds, which are part of a 'Castle Making' set. I'm showing my age here, but the set originally came out in the mid 70's in a large box. Unfortunately I don't have the moulds anymore, due to lending them to a mate about 20 years ago, who managed to lose them. I did however still have a small pile of saved bricks I'd made previously, plus I picked up a few at a swap meet a few years ago..........not enough to build a castle, hence the chapel.

I still keep my eye out for the moulds, but I've never come across any for sale here.

Cheers!

Great job on the chapel...looks great....you can make a brick mould out of plastiine.to make plaster of paris bricks...likewise the ..chapel windows.....press a brick into plasticine and you have the impression of the brick...dust the impression with talc powder and pour in the plaster of paris,,,,,plenty of plasticine makes plenty of bricks ..... the brick mould wont last for long but the plasticince can be used ..again and again....just a suggestion ..cheers TomB
