SAS Rogue Heroes (2 Viewers)

Will be watching tonight. Premiers @ 9pm EST, (with a repeat at 10pm) on EPIX cable. I am hoping to be impressed and entertained. -- Al

Guys you need to watch the series ......Seen the first three chapters...could not content in watching one a day...saw them all one after the other...
Some years ago I saw a set of pics in Facebook where they were showing the vehicles being shipped via Spain to Morroco ...just did not know they would show up in this movie...great stuff we were missing....
For those with a sharp eye you will notice a great care to try to only use period British soft skin vehicles....but in two convoys you are able to spot modern American Troop reucks ( keep an eye for the opening convoy...and later model Chevy Canadian type troop trucks ...and keen eyes on the jeeps you can spot some 1950´s....) Other than that the first episodes are full of action...highly recommended....
Cheers

Well, found this a well done production although I don't care for the modern rock music they use. Left with the impression that the SAS was an organization of 'eccentrics', at least led by them. Don't know enough about Sterling, Mayne, and the rest to comment on accuracy of the depictions of them. Will be watching to see how this progresses. -- Al

That's an 'interesting' combination, but I have to admit to being a huge Rock Fan, especially from the 70's. I can't wait to see the series for myself.

Here's a list of the soundtrack for those interested:

I should have been clearer in my statement about the music. I like rock music, I just felt the series would be better served by using period style music to set the atmosphere. I was fascinated by the personalities being exhibited and look forward to further episodes. -- Al

Fair enough, I tend to agree with you, I guess I'll have to see it first hand to decide. Soundtracks have a profound effect on film imo, for example 'Predator' wouldn't be the same without the classic rock songs etc.

Ha! Can't beat Little Richard on a helicopter when bound for combat. -- Al

Really enjoying this show with all the peculiar personalities. Also, contrary to my earlier opinion about the sound track music, who can argue with AC/DC? Loved the interview process when Sterling was saying yea or nay to the volunteers. -- Al

No mate haven't found it yet will let you know when I do.

Hey Wayne,

if you had been watching the 'Football' (round ball that you don't touch with your hands) tonight you may have seen a promotion on SBS saying that 'Rogue Heroes' will be coming in 2023.

I'll keep you posted about the date, but I'm sure you will find out soon,

Looking forward to this series,

John

Binge watch all six episodes on BBC iplayer last week, and yes it does take a few liberties as all these types of programmes for one reason or other, but good entertainment as it goes !

I've done a search on SBS website and they have a statement from 2 weeks ago stating:

From the creator of Peaky Blinders, the highly anticipated Australian premiere of Rogue Heroes is coming to SBS in 2023. Starring Dominic West,
Alfie Allen and Connor Swindells, Rogue Heroes tells the story of how the world’s most famous Special Forces Unit, the SAS, was born.

So something good to see on free-air TV next year.

John

Also watch this series every week on the bbc and have also ordered the DVD which will be released in December

Watched it last night and really enjoyed both episodes. Are their only two available right now in the US?

Has a Quentin Tarantino production feel about it. I don't mind the modern rock music.
I'm a big fan of the N. Africa campaign and the old '60s Rat Patrol series, so I think this is pretty cool.
Realism, perhaps not so much, but definitely entertaining with lots of grit, explosions, and shoot 'em ups.
Thanks for the info guys, will be looking out for the DVD.

I've watched 4 episodes so far and really enjoyed them.
Mark
