Funny thing happened last night!!!

i was playing my PS3 as a way to relax and playing Airbourne online with it!!!

Anyway it takes a few minutes each time to slide into a game online so i flick out of the AV channel and into my cable. SPR was due to start at 11pm!!

I finshed a quick 20min game online and ended up watching the whole film until 2am!!!

No that may not be funny but i have a recordable cable and i also have the fim on DVD and can watch it at anytime!!!

Sign of a good film to me watch 5mins watch the whole film no matter what!!

Awesome film and the end scene everytime makes me have a few tears!!

Great film.First and last 30mins are just stunning. As you say its the sign of a great film when you still watch it on tv even though you have the dvd.The first thirty mins are enough to make you realise what a generation of young men went through so we could be free, god bless em all i say.

I,ve done the same thing!!
I actually could not count the times I,ve watched all or some of SPR.
There are only two other movies that I do the same thing, watching again and again, Goodfellows and Paths of Glory.

I wouldn't mind betting that theres quite a few chaps on here who watch their fave film over and over,we are all kids at heart i guess;)

What a great looking game MOH Airborne is Tony , Normandy & the Flak tower are very real like
Always thought Operation Varsity would be great idea for 1/30 soldiers as you had German , USA & British paratroopers all fighting in that battle ;)

No offence intended to anyone here. In my opinion SPR is a God-Awful film apart from the first and last 30 minutes or so.

H, please explain! My mind will be open awaiting an explanation.
The only thing I will give you is the premise, finding a soldier, is a little off.
But I,ll give Hollywood a little room to use that story line as a backdrop.
This better be good!

First 30 minutes - pretty good.
Last 30 minutes - pretty good.
Rest of it's crap.
Besides, they bad-mouthed Monty.
And didn't show any Brits or Canadians.
So, it's Anti-British.

I rest my case, M'Lud...!!!

Cheers

Assume it's not in your top ten then H:D
On reflection they only bad mouthed Monty once by calling him "over-rated" unlike a helluva lotta of other US war films we could mention:D

SPR is an absolutely awful movie.
Much, much, prefer "Patton" for an accurate hollywood portrayal of Monty's personality and abilities.
And our lovely Brit ladies.
Actually, I think I can in fact detect a slight anti-brit slant in "Patton", but I'm not sure, so I'll give hollywood and our colonial cousin's the benefit of the doubt - this time. Besides, it's in colour, so it must be true.

H

I think maybe uncle Harold is being a touch hard here on SPR.The first thirty odd mins are very good indeed, there can't be many war films that can match that sort of realism and i think it set a bench mark.I'm also guessing Harry has tongue firmly in cheek (his own i stress to add!)when he says it doesn't mention us Brits.;)

Now you are all obviously thinking i've gone mad and softened my one man crusade against Hollywood and its depiction of us Brits, not at all,but apart from the snide remark about Monty i really like this film. This maybe because last year i stood on Omaha beach and thought Oh my god,how did anyone get off here alive?!!

Harry, are you yanking our chains, yet again? :p:D There is one brief anti-Monty mention in SPR. Half of "Patton" is anti-Monty. Although if you think "Patton" is an accurate hollywood portrayal of Monty's personality and abilities, I certainly can't disagree. It portrays him as a pompous jerk. However, as virtually every British officer who served in WWII, including Air Marshall Tedder, openly commented that they thought he was a pompous, low class jerk, you may be right about it being an accurate portrayal.

Rob,
SPR is anti-british an' that's awe that's aboot it. How come Kenneth More and David Niven and Richard Burton and Vivien Leigh and Virginia McKenna aren't in it...??? That's what I want to know.
Plus there's no denying, they bad-mouthed Monty.

I rest my case yet again, M'Lud.
Aye.

Right H, and they didn't mention Yetis, bunny rabbits or anyone from Eyota, MN USA so it must be Anti-Yeti, Anti-Bunny and Anti-Eyota Residents as well. :p
Come to think of it they didn't mention a single one of my family members who fought in WWII (at least not by their proper names)--must be Anti-Shannon Reuss' Illustrious Family Members who Fought in the Military as well. Of all the nerve ;):D.

Hey Rob,
If your good lady is going to help with posting your holiday snaps, is there any chance of asking her to take some photo's of your collection while you guys are at it? You can post them in the Diorama and Display section of the forum. I'll be glad to assist if you want to email them to me. I'd dearly love to see some examples of your K&C displays, and I'm sure your many other friends here can lend some assistance as well. I think it would be great to see your FJ and DD figures set against backdrops of your holiday snaps, something along the same lines as Randy's excellent mini-dios.

Cheers Mate
