Scale size has confused me......Is 1/30 about 60mm and 1/32 about 54 mm ... 1/35 about 50 mm...?...I make the odd figure and try to keep it to 54mm...sometimes 60mm as that is easier to work........what is the most popular scale ?....thank you TomB

The manufacturers have different ideas as to what 1/30 scale represents and there are 1/30 figures of obviously different sizes and they only sometimes equate to 54mm. Some 1/30 are now called 60mm. Rather than a general question which is almost impossible to answer, ask about comparing specific companies within ranges like WWII or Napoleonics or Crusaders.

scale is only confusing in this small hobby I have not found this level of problem anywhere else. Its sorted in the model worlds military and civillian and other metal manufacturers like FOV etc . I would think that 1/35th scale is one of the most popular scales as its the mainstay of the plastic world and, has a following in metal kits. I think most metal kits I have seen are about 1/32nd scale though I stand to be corrected as there are many manufacturers

Looks right in all you scales. In model ship building the scales are quite wide. Today there are standard ships scales at 1/700; 1/720; 1/600; 1/400 and 1350. IN the years past there were, what they called "Box scale" All the boxes were the same size and the model ship was "scaled" to fit in the box. So there were hundreds or sizes.

I simply go by what I like, and a little use of perspective. It can solve a scale problem between vendors. I found scales issues from the same vendor and in the same series so go figure. -- Larry

Thanks for the replies.....I will do do figs 54 as 54 and 60 as 60....60mm is much easier but I like to fiddle with the 54...have done larger scale up to 90 but I find the larger models harder to do...thanks again...TomB
