"Early that morning, before dawn, we heard shouts from the sentries and musket fire. Within a minute as I rushed into the courtyard, there was a terrible beating upon the gates. The gates gave way and in poured the enemy. Our men were cut down as they tried to secure the gates. The slaughter was unbearable."
From the diary of a captured Russian Officer.

Well guys, my First Legion infantry arrived this morning. Here they are up against K&C. What do you guys think?

I think you have a great display and are putting those excellent First Legion figures to really good use. My first installment arrived today too, but I haven't put it all together as yet. Who makes the wall and building scenery in your shots?

The walls and farmhouse are by King & Country. I have used them both in many combinations in the same little space. I happen to like this layout pretty well. These two pieces were retired before Christmas of last year I believe.

I have them bought and paid for, and being reserved for me by a dealer friend. Just need to bite the bullet and go ahead and have them DHL'd to China. Not taking any chances with the International Postie on this particular order.:eek:;)

Cheers

Ah figures, do either of you have a model number so I can look for them?

The courtyard set is SP018 and there is one on Ebay right now. I am not sure of the farmhouse building number but would guess it is consecutive (17 or 19). Good luck.

MK, Thats another great set,the figures look nice together and I like the way you hid the bases of the figures!

Thank you guys.

I love the courtyard and farmhouse by K&C. You can do so much with it.

The new First Legion French figures are just outstanding! I highly recommend them to any of you Nap fans. They look better than they appear in the photos. I will be adding more figures to this display soon.

Anyone else adding First Legion to their purchases?

I am thinking about the British Guards and hope to get a look at them in Chicago in September.

Thank you for posting the great display.

One quick question. Which soldiers do you think are better, or is it a tie?

By the way no matter which soldiers you pick the French shall always win.

Thanks,
Old Guard

Old Guard,

Right now I would give the edge to First Legion. I love K&C and have all of their matte Naps they have released with the exception of maybe 3 Russians. The sculpting and the finish on the First Legion figures is just incredible. They actually look better than they do in the photos.

Instead of naming this display "September 1812", I thought about naming it instead "Honey! Call the Orkon man. We have French in courtyard again!".

I don't know why, the First Legion figures are far and away better sculpted and painted.;)

I would sum it up like this. The two brands compliment each other and whichever one you collect or prefer, you will appreciate the other. That said I did start my collection with K&C and will continue to collect them .I am going to purchase some first legion to compliment my collection. Another thought on that matter If First legion had not come along . I probably would have picked up the Russians from K&C. But instead decided to use french line from first legion to compliment my collection. Rob

One really nice thing about it is that they do fit together. While waiting for the 1st Legion Guards, my new K&C King's Legion figures look just fine against the 1st Legion French lines.:D;)
