Sherman (2 Viewers)

Did you think the Panthers were nice, the Shermans will really impress you. Can't wait to see the Tigers.

Ana, great job on the Shermans.

Re: Sherman = nice!

Ana,

I received my M4A1 the other day. We have been busy at work so I didn't have a chance to give it a good look until this evening. A very nice tank model. I am planning the markings that I will add and will post photos when I am done.

Anna,

Thank the fellows for me. The Sherman’s are absolutely wonderful. I got my three versions from George at Minute Man earlier this week and I have finally got around to opening them tonight.

I am thinking of getting the black and green version also. How do I go about doing that? I know how to do it is somewhere on the forum but I am too lazy to search to it.

One comment. Even with the machine guns being in separate boxes, each of the three had bent barrels when I opened them. They are easily straightened but I thought you should know. I just slowly press them between my thumb and trigger finger and slowly bend them into position by while running my thumb and finger up and down their length.

Great models, I gotta deal for ya, keep up the work and I'll keep buying them.

Thank you, Michael! We have improved the mgs packing by now. Thanks for letting us know.

If you want to order a green and black one, just let george know that you want one HB12b black and green and he'll understand.

Thanks!:)

Anna:

Would you have a picture of the green and black camo? I'm thinking of getting another one.

Thanks

I noticed that the KC "sandbagged" Sherman and HB Sherman have different gun barrel configuration, though both tankls are supposed to be M4A1. Which is the correct one? Or, are there supposed to be 2 types of barrels?

Here's your answer - there were THREE variations on the 76mm gun as placed in the M4A1 76mm Wet Stowage, and other vehicles with the 76mm gun (M18 Gun Motor Carriage, and M4A3 76mm Wet Stowage)

76mm Gun M1 - plain muzzle

76mm Gun M1A1 - muzzle was threaded for a muzzle brake, but the threads are covered by a steel protective ring.

76mm Gun M101C and M1A2 - double-baffle muzzle brake fitted to the end of the muzzle. I think M1A2 had a chance to the rifling inside the tube, but that doesn't concern modelers.

BOTTOM LINE: K&C's M4A1 76mm Wet Stowage is modeled with an M1 gun, while the HB tank has an M1A1 gun. HB probably should have had an M1 gun as it is based on earlier tanks, but there were replacements of worn or damaged guns, so no big problem.

Thanks, Gary. That's an eye opener. It's nice to have experts in this forum. It keeps manufacturers stay accurate on their product lines.
