Guys...

Has there been any rumours at all about what theatre to expect the showpiece to be from?
Mitch

No, this is a rather tightly held secret. When I visited the Figarti Factory in July, Rick told me he made two or three sweeps to make sure I wouldn't see anything that would give it away.

One year, somebody guessed that it would be B 17s because they saw them trotting in boxes that said so. Last year, Rick wrote something on the boxes -- forget what -- to throw people off the scent.

Rick never fails to disappoint so I'm sure this year will be something interesting as well.

Cheers for that. I suppose not too long to go

Kxla1...

Is that a wish list or a possibility. It would be a real shock and awe piece.
Mitch

I'm hoping for a Me 262 night fighter ,Churchill bridge layer & Churchill Crocodile + king tiger tank , Horsa glider

Agree, a Crocodile or a Bridge layer would be good.

A Berlin terrain piece, more Russians and a King Tiger would be better.

i just registered to the form. I got my first shock and awe last december. It was the Eboat. Words can't describe it. Would like to get B-17 next...BLUE Max

Speaking of "schock & awe", a picture on another thread brought this to mind.
Could this years piece be a PT Boat?
It is the perfect size, something unique, I believe Rick said each year it gets harder as to what to make.
Just a thought.
I actually predicted last years piece prior to the show from a few hints Rick let out, although this year there has been no leaks.

That would go nicely with the new Pacific releases!:)

Yer all wrong! While listening to my iPod it came to me that this years' "shock and awe" will be a complete gun cave set from "The Guns Of Navarone". The David Niven figure will be in the elevator pit while the Gregory Peck figure ties off climbing ropes. The German figures will be a cutting torch team and two brutes with sledgehammers. An optional German general with full red-lapelled overcoat can be purchased seperately as can a German naval launch with Anthony Quinn and other figures.

You're not going to believe this GB, but I suggested to Rick at the 2008 Westcoaster that he please consider producing the Navarone fortified mountain complex as a future Chicago shocker! I'd sure love to see my favorite childhood playset come to life again and done the Figarti way!:)

We do work for Figarti and we don't have a clue what the Shock and Awe piece is.........But the rest of the stuff is pretty cool :) Looking at it right now. The build up to Chicago is like a grown up waiting for Christmas !...Alex

Joe,

I have made the same suggestion. That's one of my all time favorite movies.:)

Could you imagine the size this thing would have to be!!!!!!! Never mind shock and awe please take of the front door or remove the patio windows to get it in the house.
Mitch

Hi Louis,

It would appear that we are not alone!:) Maybe there is hope for us Guns of Navarone fans! I can actually somewhat visualize the Figarti rendition of the unyielding presence of the mountain fortress now. Imagine how well Figarti could mimic the terrain and build the separate floors, walkways, pillbox, elevator, doorways, furniture, radio room. and of course the guns themselves protruding from the jagged mountain face from their concrete shelf fortifications. I think I'm getting a little carried away here:p!
