Pluskat had some uneven luck. He survived Normandy and the German retreat, but ended up at Berlin in April '45. But he survived the war and became an engineer or an architect, if I remember correctly. So, he's in two Cornelius Ryan books. If he had been at Arnhem, he might have made all three

The actor who portrayed Major Pluskat suffered a demotion to play Col. Hassler's aide in "The Battle of the Bulge".
