"Sneak Peek at the Alamo" (2 Viewers)

Today is really the first time I have had a chance to view TF for well over a week and the first thing I have looked at is this amazing Alamo Dio thread....I'm a bit blown away to be honest and it brought a very big grin to my face, which at present is a bit tricky for me.^&grin

Thanks for posting Andy and the team at K&C, you've made me day:salute::

Cheers Toddy
Mate good to have you posting again, this forum is better for your return :salute:: (even if you're a Kiwi :wink2:)
Wayne.

Plastic or metal makes no never mind to me, if sculpted and painted at the same level and cheaper...brilliant. After all you don't walk around with figures in your hands all day so the weight is a non-issue for me.

Toddy:

The only thing better than this huge diorama is seeing you back on the forum.

Here's hoping you continue to recover.

Best,
Jason

1- Fantastic work from Andy and Gordon,

2- Welcome back Toddy.

We can call this a really nice day of TF forum.

Serge. :)

A few people have alluded to it but I think this development allows existing collectors to collect in a fresh way. I've been into unpainted plastic for longer than metal, I like like the mass that can be achieved - and the price! Being across both allows me to collect different eras and especially vehicles that I otherwise wouldn't. I think a series of well painted plastics opens up new markets. Shops that currently mightn't have the capacity to hold $1000s worth of stock can afford these, more people will see them and possibly get into things more like we have. The anniversary of Waterloo in particular allows great scope for growing the hobby. I think it might give a leg up to WW1 ranges too.

that's a lot of soldados!

I'm going to San Antonio in a few weeks...

I will definitely stop in for a closer look...

that is so cool!

The challenge for you though Larso is that K&C plastics will be compatible with K&C metal not with your other collection items. You will need to man up, accept that and acknowledge that you have two different plastic collections. The question is, as it has always been - are you man enough?

No - I WILL have two different plastic collections! And a metal one. I will have to look to the old-school Mormons on how to manage so many 'mistresses'.

So sitting around at home again with nothing much to do I see?

In fact working on my second PhD, then lunch, then on that school history I have been commissioned to write, then dinner, then University marking. After that I am going to set aside a full fifteen minutes to feel superior to my friends.

Welcome back Toddy and hope you are making out well ! Good to hear you enjoyed seeing the diorama your first day back on the forum. That's what the name of the game is here....FUN and....ENJOYMENT ^&grin Cheers

Why is it the greatest TS idea ever for a certain mfg. to offer $300 resin tanks, and yet when Andy offers resin figures, some members have oodles of noodles issues with them.?...I'm confused^&confuse Michael

Good point made Michael. To me this all seems to be nothing but good for collectors all around. From all accounts so far these "non metal" figures look very hard to tell apart from their metal counterparts, which means blending in will not
be an issue. Add in the other benefits like getting more in quantity and paying much less lets many more collectors to create larger diorama scenes at a more cost effective price. It also brings others into the hobby who could not afford
the price of buying hand painted metal. A cheaper, cost effective option is soon coming and by offering this alternative will only strengthen our hobby for years to come.......all said in my own opinion of course :wink2:
Like the old saying goes.....give credit where credit is due. I give K&C credit for taking on this idea and bringing it to fruition :salute::

These sort of figures would be great for Napoleonic and AZW type displays.
About ten years ago Conte did something similar with their plastic figures for the ACW.
They were good to bulk out scenes.
Hopefully this new venture will catch on.
It is very expensive to try and recreate these massed battles using metal only figures.
Looking forward to further information.

Your concern about the line being too successful is interesting, although I suspect that Andy may not be having sleepless nights because of a similar worry. I had not considered the impact on the further production of metal. Even if the plastic figures are excellent and well priced - which I have a sneaking suspicion will be the case - I will not spend more I will just get more. That said, as they are compatible with the metals I will mix and match so perhaps it will keep collectors in the hobby and encourage further demand. I suppose it shows that we should be careful what we ask for. There is considerable angst over prices and a company has responded to that angst in a creative manner. K&C collectors now have three distinct levels to purchase which gives the company a chance to tap into three different levels of spending capacity. The challenge as a collector is not to respond like Goldilocks - one is too dear, one is too cheap and the other is just right. There may well be potential to cherry pick from each of the three levels.

Excellent post. As you may be aware I now own some of the much talked about P figures and am very pleased indeed with them, superb releases. Of course I have the standard range too which I've always enjoyed , so I cannot wait to see this third tier of figures as well. I do agree in that it appears K&C are making efforts to reach collectors of differing budgets, which hopeful may mean those who have less to spend can still collect. Time will tell I guess.:smile2:

Check out the figure's with the sand coated bases. These could be the resin figures. Chris.

The Mexican Infantry in the red uniforms in the last but one image are not metal unless they are repaints and I would guess that whole column is resin .

At least my Christmas will be sorted:)

Simply an awesome display:salute::.

Anybody keeping track of the actual defenders that have been made and are yet to be made ? Over time the defenders could become 1 for one.
Would be nice later on to have a map showing who is who. Anybody spot Santa Ana ?

Ball park RRP on this lot (without the building) would be interesting. Perhaps when we know the cost of the figures and how many are metal etc we might be able to make a guess. If I was Phil Collins I would be ordering a similar set up for my play room.

I can't get to the first posts on this thread1.Is there a problem?

Santa Anna is behind the artillery with Castrillon . I have all the defenders so no need to keep track . Also all defenders from COnte and Britains but they are not identified by name .

Regards

Steve
