"Sneak Peek at the Alamo" (2 Viewers)

It looks amazing, just spectacular. The only thing that looked slightly odd to me, there does not seem to be many fallen figures, thought in this size battle there would be plenty of downed men, but I confess I know little about this campaign. :salute:: Robin.

This is a very exciting development and even though a few posts caused me to silently scream, I can't wait to find out more. I have no criticism of the news 'leaking out' - that's the way things go. I'm happy to be discussing it now!

So Rob, are you landed gentry or something, as apparently you don't have to spend all day at work?.

^&grin I wish! I had a long term back injury that kept me off work for many years until it was fixed about two years back, since then I've returned to work (two part time jobs). But of course other collectors who don't know me (nor I them thank God) know better than I !^&grin

This will all be deleted soon! It is frustrating about the gadflies though. Jack told me about his catch-up with you, wish I'd been there!

Hi Gents

Lets try to stay on target with the discussion of this really stunning display. Keep the pointless insults to your self and try not to make it personal or there will be consequences.

Today is really the first time I have had a chance to view TF for well over a week and the first thing I have looked at is this amazing Alamo Dio thread....I'm a bit blown away to be honest and it brought a very big grin to my face, which at present is a bit tricky for me.^&grin

Thanks for posting Andy and the team at K&C, you've made me day:salute::

Cheers Toddy

Hey Dave mate,
Must have been some good posts that I missed. The ignore list makes this a much more enjoyable thread.^&grin Thank you for suggesting cobber.^&grin

It is great to look at this Alamo dio with the new figures mixed in with the old polystone and think how well they mix together. Those that I had the privelige to see in Chicago looked outstanding and were very difficult to pick from the old ones. Only the weight when picked up was the give away. Even those new cannons came up very well. If the price suggested at Chicago is the final one then I think everyone will be very happy.
Once again, congratulations to Andy and K&C for being the leaders in the TS field. Many years ago they were the first with Matt painted figures and now pioneering the move into a new budget range.:salute::

Glad to hear you back better and your working again Rob :salute::

That is a shame - I am currently working on a dio that looks just like this one. I will have to do something else now!

I thought you said you were sending to me, or did I hear you wrong? {eek3}

Huh? Can't hear you! Speak louder ^&grin

Glad to hear you back better and your working again Rob :salute::

Thanks Neil, appreciate that. It's not full time, but it's better than nowt as they say.

Larso

You may be at work but are you working?

This diorama is excellent both visually and in terms of the historical record that it provides. It might well be a bit of a game changer in the way things are done but at the very least I really hope that it attracts new collectors or reinvigorates some old ones. If the figure of 30 000 collectors is correct you would only need to attract a thousand newbies and you are in business. One of the big questions, if indeed it does attract new collectors, is whether they will collect both metals and plastics or whether we will see a new 'strand' of collectors. Either way, more collectors and more money in the hobby, bigger shows, and manufacturers expanding into new ranges and mediums can only be a good thing. It will be interesting to see how the other manufacturers react.

Yes I remember when there were stretches of days when you could barely get out of bed and went silent on posting. Glad it's improved. See - I told you lying in the road after too many G&Ts at the London shows was doing you no good. {sm2}:salute::^&grin

I tried lying in the road Terry but they still wouldn't buy me a drink!:wink2:

Peter...

Not sure where I am being negative? I stated they would not be for me but, I am interested in price, detail etc as is everyone else. Most of the questions have arisen from the way the information has been put out here but, you seem to be saying everything I have heard is wrong???

It makes sense to have these as restricted releases if, as you say, we will be pleasantly surprised at cost then if its anything other I for one do not want to see a surge of collectors buy plastic!!!! and less buy metal meaning that its either stopped as a production medium or, see further price costs. That could happen

Its a discussion forum and this is something new and we are discussing it from all the leaks good and bad is obviously what comes from that discussion

Your concern about the line being too successful is interesting, although I suspect that Andy may not be having sleepless nights because of a similar worry. I had not considered the impact on the further production of metal. Even if the plastic figures are excellent and well priced - which I have a sneaking suspicion will be the case - I will not spend more I will just get more. That said, as they are compatible with the metals I will mix and match so perhaps it will keep collectors in the hobby and encourage further demand. I suppose it shows that we should be careful what we ask for. There is considerable angst over prices and a company has responded to that angst in a creative manner. K&C collectors now have three distinct levels to purchase which gives the company a chance to tap into three different levels of spending capacity. The challenge as a collector is not to respond like Goldilocks - one is too dear, one is too cheap and the other is just right. There may well be potential to cherry pick from each of the three levels.

Toddy, glad to see you feeling well enough to post. This is good news and hope your recovery continues at a fast pace. -- Al

Why is it the greatest TS idea ever for a certain mfg. to offer $300 resin tanks, and yet when Andy offers resin figures, some members have oodles of noodles issues with them.?...I'm confused^&confuse Michael
