Snow Tiger (1 Viewer)

Tigers were in heavy tank battalions acting independently or attached to Panzer divisions. The K&C snow tiger is modeled after Tiger 111 of 1./s.Pz.Abt.502 during January of 1943 at Mga near Leningrad. The unit had 5 Tigers. The tank numbers were just white outlines.

As for Kharkov in February-March 1943, I think only ss.Panzer 2 "Das Reich" had any Tigers in s.Pz.Abt. 503 and 505. I have a photo somewhere of a grey whitewashed Tiger from one of these units with a solid black number.

Thanks Terry. What research I have done said the same thing as to Tigers at Kharkov. Found references to "some" Tigers in Das Reich. Couldn't find specific numbers but at least I know some were there. -- Al

Tiger units in the Kharkov counteroffensive

13./Panzer-Regiment Grossdeutschland
4./SS-Panzerregiment 1
8./SS-Panzerregiment 2
4./SS-Panzerregiment 3

Grossdeutschland's Tigers were rushed into combat and didn't receive whitewash over the grey. The three SS units had whitewash applied to their Tigers.
