Snow (1 Viewer)

low 70's here today...a tad chilly...^&grin...

Gee Mike ...I feel for you TX guys ...^&grin .. it is -4 with wind chill. Wind is 45 - 60 MPH and so far about 22 - 25 inches of snow and ice.
It is hard to tell the actual depth since, with the blowing wind, we have some spots that are almost bare ground and others places that are 4 feet deep .... and growing.{eek3}

Stay warm Mike ....

Just rolled out of bed; what's the point of even getting up at this point.

As I sit here, my neighbor across the way is trying to get out of her house; she's got about a nine foot tall drift up against her door, good luck with that, we'll see you on Friday.

We got clobbered, at least two feet and it's still coming down. We have a small bench in the back yard that I sit on when I'm using the grill (my girlfriend calls it my thinking bench) and it's two feet tall. It's just about invisible at this point.

The coast really got hammered, a lot of flooding, high winds, national guard evacuations everywhere. Nantucket got hammered, the whole island is without power.

Guess those clam brains that wanted to ride it out had to be rescued.

And I love how the news stations always have some nitwit reporting from the coast and he's getting blown all over the place, must be a whoever draws the short straw.

34,000 people across the state without power.

To quote that fleabrain Joe from WFAN; "Wot a disasta."

Hey Southern Neighbor ...
I hear ya' George.

We got two bimbos up who decided to go to the "rocky" coast to get some "Storm Shots" on their iPhones. The wind blew one of them off the high rocks down into the ledge below and she was stuck (and hurt) the other called 911 to get the Police and/or Coast Guard. They had to come to come and get her off the ledge before the freezing water (or tide) finished her.

Issue is.. the cost to the state because of these two brainless fools is something like $22,000. Report says they are libel for the total expenses since it is considered a accident cause by their own stupidity and negligence. I truly hope so ..

Sounds like Boston got the worst of it. Did the weatherman confuse Boston with Buffalo {sm3}

Well I survived the latest storm of the century; power is still on, that's all I care about.

Got the call at 4:00PM that the snow plow contractor was in our complex. The shovelers came through and cleared the walkways, so I put 47 layers of clothes on, grabbed my shovel and my brush to brush the snow off my jeep and off into the tundra I trudged, my cats were busy sleeping or else I would have hooked them up to a sheet of plywood and mush, mush, mushed my way through.

Got to the jeep, most of the snow just blew off; she started right up, let her sit for awhile, then threw her in reverse and floored it, drove through the eight foot tall drift behind it, pulled it onto the street and just sat there till the plow came to do my lot.

He was done in about five minutes, so I backed the jeep up, pulled back into my spot and shut her off.

My work was done.

One of the benefits of condo living; outstanding.

All set now until the next storm of the century.

Don't feel too bad, you will have your revenge on us in the summer when it is a billion degrees in the shade here in Texas.

I gotta' admit that the Condo life is looking better and better.

We ended up with 28" but drifts over 8 feet. Even though I had my plow guy "do his thing" I was still outside 7 to 8 hours. Haven't found my truck yet ...:(
Forecast is for another 6" to 8" this Friday and then a possibility of another ""BLOCK BUSTER" on Monday{sm2}

Hopefully I'll be dug out by the time to go to the Valley Forge TS show. {sm4}

Snow storms are condo living at it's finest. Only got about 9 inches at the Jersey Shore, but I was still enjoying watching the shoveling from my toy soldier room window with a hot coffee.

Another storm roaring in, starting Sunday night and going all day and night Monday, 12 inches plus. AND, it's the heavy wet crap, it's like shoveling cement. Then freezing temperatures for two days, then another storm Wednesday night into Thursday, then Saturday into Sunday.

Ok, I give, enough is enough, I can't take it anymore and we still have six or seven weeks of winter still to go.

Hang in there. Hopefully a Patriot's win will warm things up!

I'll say UNCLE also. I just finished cleaning up the 12" we had today and MORE tomorrow .... mid-coast is 12 -14 ....{sm2}
Darn ... ground hog!

I've never understood why anyone shovels their driveway if they can get their car out. Absent a blizzard most cars can get through a lot of snow. I see my neighbors rushing to the shovels or snow blowers everytime a couple of inches drop. A great way to induce a heart attack. Or so I tell my wife when she points out the disaster of our driveway compared to everyone else.

Apparently it is the worst winter since 1966 for us. No shoveling for me, it had drifted 3 ft in front of my door and behind the truck. I just paid someone to plow my drive and sidewalk, best $30 I ever spent !!

Because the tire tracks freeze and within a day or so the loose snow freezes too. That leaves ice ridges so the next snowfall can't be cleared with a snow blower and is very difficult to shovel. The problem gets worse with each snowfall. It hasn''t been above freezing any day this month and the forecast is for record breaking cold this week and no days above freezing for the rest of February. So the problem won't clear itself anytime soon. It quickly becomes very difficult to get the car out - sometimes even a 4WD

I have a Camry (which use to go to work) and an Acura MDX. As we have a driveway with a slight incline, when it snows, the Camry won't make it up to the road.

Oh, by the way, I never shovel; have somebody who plows. As Combat notes, shoveling is not good for the heart (nor the back).

You're right. I cleared the walk from the house to driveway and that was as much as my back could take. My physio wants me to keep active so she showed me how to minimize back strain and increase strength. Very little bending or lifting - mostly pushing. Tomorrow I blow the driveway - no lifting.

If it's light snow, it's not an issue. Heavy snow, different matter altogether.

Got up this morning to another foot or so with more on the way, 16" to 24" they're calling for, ending early Tuesday morning.

Another storm coming Thursday night into Friday, 6" to 8" expected, then we go into a deep freeze over the weekend, daytime temperatures in the single digits, nighttime below zero.

It seems like only the New England states are getting hammered storm after storm.

I guess God must be a Seahawks fan.......................
