Snow (1 Viewer)

Got up this morning to another foot or so with more on the way, 16" to 24" they're calling for, ending early Tuesday morning.

Another storm coming Thursday night into Friday, 6" to 8" expected, then we go into a deep freeze over the weekend, daytime temperatures in the single digits, nighttime below zero.

It seems like only the New England states are getting hammered storm after storm.

I guess God must be a Seahawks fan.......................

Seattle sunny with temps in the 60s but then we lie a lot in Washington

Another 12" - 14" in the mid-coast Maine.
The city has National Guard Front-end loaders (HUGE) taking away the piles at the intersections ...as they are 10 - 12 feet high.
YES and a lot more snow on the way.

But God isn't a Seahawks fan .... The snow is His confetti ....^&grin

That is brutal. Most of the snow has bypassed us so far this winter. A couple of crunchy inches on the ground but the roads are perfectly fine. In southern PA, a big snow storm is a rarity. Mostly the 2-5 inches range. And any sunshine melts it off the pavement within a few days. I can handle snow and cold. It's the wind and ice that are the killers.

North East is getting slammed every other day it seems with a new snow storm while we here in the South West have been breaking high temp records off and on for a week now, getting close to 90 today!!{eek3} I enjoy the nice days but man would I love to have one good snow fall...Sammy

The Weather Service is predicting that between now and Tuesday we will have some of the coldest weather seen in this area in 11 years. Now, last winter was pretty cold at times so I don't see how this could be worse but I guess we'll find out.

You will find out. It's coming from the North Pole through Ontario and on to the US East Coast. Up here we have been warned to expect record low temperatures like -40F. The warming centres are opening and the arctic air has been blowing through here with falling temperatures since this morning.

If I could find a way to divert the Arctic air to Phoenix ......{sm4}

It won't be like that here but we're headed to single digits. Tonight it will 3F, Friday between 4 and 16, Saturday's a real heat wave (11 to 31) and Sunday between -2 and 12. Ouch!

Cold starting is hard on an engine. At -20C people start to use block heaters if the engine temperature frequently goes -20 to -30 for days on end. And yes -40 is cold but an air temperature and wind chill to -40 doesn't mean the engine itself is -40. Antifreeze and windshield washer fluid are good to -45C

A little cooler today here in Tucson, only 81 today, better break out my flannels:)...Sammy

It went down to -41last night in Toronto. It was colder here than in the arctic. I went out early this morning. It's a different world at that temperature.
