I think your right remember reading that somewhere but, best not to open that can of worms as the FW recently shows. We may never get any sets at that rate!!!!

Which one - he had at least 7. One was blown upside down by a German bomb, one was wrecked in a head on collision with an Me109, I think one was ditched due to engine trouble over the channel. One was destroyed in a collision with a pilot he was training. And he was shot down 3 times. There may be others. :D

The one his son refurbished in his honour does not have black and cream undersides.

Terry

He had more than that. Most Spitfires had an operational life of only a few days or weeks. So he doubtless went through many serial numbers in his career. Also, the black and white under markings were an early war camoflage designed to facilitate anti-aircraft recognition. Most squadrons converted to sky undersides by at least the end of the BoB.

I finally ordered the Spit. I will hold off on the ambulance but will likely get one. I would like to have a fuel truck even more. I will certainly get at least a couple more figures, including one of the female variety. There are so many amazing releases from so many manufacturers this year (especially since I collect Civil War too); it is hard to decide.

Back when I first started collecting the newly introduced Corgi 1:72 scale diecast aircraft, one of the first ones I got was 49005 Alan Deere Mark I Spitfire. Of the Corgi Spitfires, it was the only one I remember coming with a pilot's notes booklet which I think was a miniature copy of the manual on how to fly the Spitfire, handling characteristics, fuel mixtures, etc.

RAF Pilot notes are like USAF aircraft manuals and all aircraft have them. They are not a miniature of anything but rather a brief summary of the essential details on certain aircraft characteristics and settings. The WWII versions, as you may have notice, are relatively sparce, especially the RAF fighter ones.

Keep in mind that K&C is only producing 250 units of the ambulance! You might want to move that one to the top of the list. Hey, you might get your fuel truck with the RAF mystery vehicle being released in September!

AFFIRMATIVE for both sets and anything/everything RAF/COMMONWEALTH related!

By miniature, I was referring to the size of the manual and not the amount of content in the manual. It's small enough to fit the small Corgi boxes that hold the 1:72 scale aircraft and I am guessing the actual manuals were much larger in length and width. anyway, I think it is good feature to have with the model, but as far as I know, Corgi did it for only one of their many Spitfire models and only one of their Hurricane models.

Terry

Well as I recall, it was the actual size of the issued versions. You can by them for most aircraft but yes it was a nice addition but those that didn't already have one. Not surprisingly, I have them for most WWII RAF fighters, including one for each major Spitfire Mark.:)

Great pics Wayne, thats just what we need!.:cool:

Rob

Mate im starting to like the support vehicles more than the planes.............:)

They do look really good only a matter of time before they will be released. They also display a lot easier than the fighters
Mitch

Wayne, they really look good and would add a lot of realism to the scene, that RAF Blue and yellow truck would be spot on for me.I want to be build an airfield dio in my office upstairs, but it looks like I'm going to need more room.Oh well,I don't want the garage anyway!;)

I very much hope the RAF and Luftwaffe range goes on and on,excellent releases.

Rob

would like to see some fire and rescue stuff a set with two ground crew carrying or pulling an airman from an imaginary plane. I quite like these rescue sets carrying wounded troops
Mitch

I would buy all three of those vehicles if produced, and I like Mitch's idea of the firefighters pulling a pilot from a wrecked plane as well.:cool: Vignettes like this would really add to any RAF airfield display.
