For Somme time now I have slowly been collecting WB WWI. This is a result of having inherited my Grandfather's WWI memorabilia, photos, post cards, letters, uniform buttons, etc all of which got me interested in this World wide struggle. This afternoon the two new trench sections arrived which have allowed me to actually start setting up my small collection in Somme what of an organized manner. This is certainly a slow work in progress since my priority is my ACW collection. Anyway I took Somme quick photos to let interested viewers see what I have been up to . . . . .

The problem with a trench warfare set up is that unless the viewer can see below the trench level or behind the trench as in a cut away, it's like piling books in the way of any other display of troops. A display has to be more viewer friendly which is tough with trench warfare.

Outstanding. The trench sections look really good and there is plenty of activity. Great stuff from Britains. -- Al

Nice to see the pieces coming together to make an outstanding scene, thanks for sharing, cheers, Robin.

Thanks Al. All the WWI figures that WB has come out with recently have very active sculpted poses.

Very nice collection MIke and good pics. Chris
Thanks Chris

My last two photos show the truer colors of the trench sections and the figures . . . .

Thank you Robin. AS I indicated above, this is a slow growing collcetion for me since my "labor of love" is my ACW collcetion. Someday I would like to have a WWI diorama set-up equally as nice as my ACW arena.

Nice addition to your toy soldier collection Mike an can see why you enter into WWI. Now looking forward to seeing how it continues to be featured as it grows..........Joe

Thanks so much Joe . . . . it will certainly continue and grow but at a slow to moderate pace . . . .

I agree with you Jeff, WB's WWI range is certainly Somme thing special and is certainly a winner in my book . . . . .

It's nice to see what the figures look like with the trenches. I also started collecting this series, gradually. I am glad to have picked up the machine gun position while available and got the Card Box exclusive. I am sure it adds a lot to your enjoyment to have the family connection. I bet your grandfather's items are very interesting.

Can I ask Richard, if he's reading this, who sculpted the British/Allied WW1 figures? I think these are some of the best figures WB have produced. Can I also ask whether, for continuities sake, the same sculptor will continue to sculpt the British/Allied figures, if indeed there will be more?

The German figures have received good early feedback on here, they're not something I personally want to collect - I'm only interested in your Allied figures and was hoping the same person would continue to work on them. Is this to be the case?

Mike...I just stumbled onto this thread...I had no idea you were collecting this era...the trenches and figures look great...I would love to see some good closeups when you find time...

Hi Mike,

It is great to see you posting Somme photos of your new collection. I would have like to collect Somme of these figures but funds do not allow. I can however enjoy watching your collection grow.

Thanks
Scott

Thanks Dan. Collecting this range for me is special due to my Grandfather's participation and being a member of the American Expeditionary Force from 1917-1919. His younger brother and my Grandmother's older brother enlisted with my Grandfather on the same day and all three served in the same unit.

Thank you very much my Texian friend. I'll try to post Somme close-ups . . .
