With the announced release of the Ludhiana Sikhs, I now do have a K&C line which I want to collect.
Some forum members do know that I like to collect figures of the Victorian Era in my "British Empire" collection, as shown in two of my albums. But they are all glossy and I will keep getting them that way. However I was looking for one matte line as well and the Indian Armies of that time are most fitting.
To get it started I ordered some of the Collector's Club figures and the first releases of the SOE series, the mounted Skinner's Horse.
Here are a few pics of the Skinner's horse, mounted and dismounted.

And another group is made up out of some dismounted Scinde's Horse Lancers along with an Officer of the 9th Bengal Lancers, the 1st Bombay Lancers and a British Officer of the Madras Lancers.
With these troops so far I am now ready to get over the time until the first batch of the Ludhiana Sikhs arrives :wink2:
Looking forward to it.
Any members here going to collect the SOE series?

Yes, I am collecting them too. I don't have any glossies so it's a completely new range for me. So far I have one figure each regiment introduced so far and will keep getting single figures from each regiment as it is introduced.

Really nice collection Konrad.I think your British Empire collection is the one you you've been looking for.

Yes, I'm kinda tempted as I started with the collectors club figures (see pic below) but moved on from K&C towards the end of last year after months without any releases to 'tickle my fancy'. Diverted my funds into other projects but these new Ludhiana Sikhs look fantastic, so I may invest in some but will wait to see what the next releases are before deciding. Unfortunately my decision to change direction has resulted in my spending habits re K&C being severely curtailed. But I am traveling overseas a lot so it's not all bad... and after Timor and Cambodia, my next big trip is Burma (this coming July) which may really whet my appetite for these figures.

Those Ludhiana Sikhs look so bloody good I will probably find it hard to resist! Wonder how they will go with the Britains Delhi Durbhar buildings as a backdrop. Will the scale matter that much?

Jules,
it was your picture below that made me place an order for several of the Collector's Club figures :wink2: ^&grin
As of the Britains Durbar buildings, I guess we just have to wait. I am hoping they would fit somehow, but when putting some of the Durbar figures, like the Lady or the Tailor next to one of these K&C figures, I am afraid the buildings might be too small.
What would be great, if after a while K&C might issue a few scenic items for the "India" subject.

Thanks for the compliment re my pic Konrad, glad to hear it 'inspired' you. Must return the compliment because after seeing a group of the mounted lancers as you've displayed, I am now even more tempted to invest in this line. I had kinda disregarded them up until now, but can see some possibilities there.

Re the Britains buildings, I'm hoping that they may be a possible match as I really like them. Was even considering the Britains Delhi Durbar series in it's own right for a while but just started to buy a couple of extra Collectors Club figures with my SOHK purchases... and the next thing you know.... got a small collection going.

But, if the Britains buildings don't fit, I'll probably have a crack at making my own. Have already started to gather reference material and will be getting 'inspiration' plus pix when I head to the Western regions of Burma. I'm not holding my breath until the release of any K&C scenics to compliment this series for a while, think Andy is too focused on his primary markets and unless this series really takes off I think it may be a very 'occasional' series as he stated some time back. But here's hoping,

cheers

Jules

A very nice start to your collection Konrad. These figures look great, especially those club figures.

Very nice Konrad
I have the officer the duffadhar and 2 lancers
I was very happy when the Ludhianas came out
Now i can add to it. I'm anxious to see how the glossies
will look like. I will surely add some matte to my mounted ones.
It will be interesting to see
Happy collecting Konrad

A patrol of "Skinner's Horse" Lancers is leaving a garrison at the Northwest Frontier to check on the whereabouts of a Regiment of the 15th Ludhiana Sikhs, wich is supposed to arrive as reinforcement any day now :wink2:

The Skinner's Horse are my favorite Indian cavalry regiment. It started back in the '60's when my father bought me a set of Britain's Skinner's Horse. I have those four and have added a further nine Skinner's from Somerset, four from Soldiers of the World (out of NZ), and the three that KC has issued. Just a wonderfully colorful regiment. Am waiting to see if the KC Skinner's will be done in gloss. -- Al

Yes, those are good looking figures. They've come along way since I bought Britains Skinner's Horse. Your photo has made it tempting to start collecting them.

Yes I am sure the upcoming Durbar 2 buildings will fit nicely. Cheers, Robin.

Hi Konrad,

Yes, I'm going along with this range, just the Subahdar at the moment but I will be adding the other two mounted figures when they are re-stocked next month.

I shall also be collecting the Ludhiana Sikhs Regiment as well.

All the best

Jeff
