I am actually starting to enjoy some of these games. I watched the German blitzkrieg of the Australians and was impressed with how entertaining a game with scoring could be. Also was impressed with the overall superiority of the level of play as oppossed to the unorganized fire drill of the Slovenia-Algeria game. Not being a real fan of soccer, I do not understand the strategies involved but I can appreciate the athletic side of it with the passing, shooting, and defense. I am still not impressed with ties or 1-0 games although I could probably enjoy a 1-0 game between two top teams, much as I appreciate a well-pitched 1-0 baseball game. One thing I am NOT impressed with is that d*** buzzing noise that the horns make. I have taken to pressing the mute button to watch the games which means I am missing the commentary that might help me understand the game. I really don't need more buzzing in my ears. I prefer the singing crowds of Europe. Anyway, I am trying to like the games and have done so in several cases. -- Al

You are not alone Al.Many tv companies around the world have been complaining that the noise is ruining commentary for the matches,at this moment FIFA are I understand considering a full ban on these horns.

That could be a good idea but probably won't happen. I imagine it would be tough to ban so many horns plus upsetting all the folks who appear to be having so much fun using them. I have found another thing I enjoy about the game and that is the fact that the clock runs with no stopping for anything short of a comet hitting the stadium. This makes the game very short in terms of time commitment. Sort of refreshing not having the time-outs found in other sports. -- Al

I am not the biggest soccer fan in the world but I do know your Slovenija team barely won the other day to a weak team at that!! as my U.S.A. team played a strong England team to a draw, so I wouldn't count on your boys winning anything yet, before you start looking into the next round you better be hoping Slovenija plays better, and even though they might play better, the U.S. team is still gonna stomp you all into the ground, I want to see how much smack you talk after you play us, o.k.??...Sammy

This doesn't have to be turned into a war, us Europeans are very passionate about our football. Some are more vocal about it than others everyone wants their country to win !!!! and yes I believe that England will beat you all HAHAHAHA

I have been following football since being a teen but now I am more familiar with the best Portuguese teams (obviously) and the best English Premier League teams. So I am not that familiar with the way Bayern played in the Bundesliga, although I remember their good run in the Champion's League. What struck me in Germany's team is that a lot of quality youngsters are coming up (listen to this English FA
) and the national coach is not at all afraid to put them playing at the World Cup. Not only Muller looked excellent at 20 (I loved the way he sat the defender when scoring the 3rd goal, not show off, it was the thing to do on that occasion!) but also Mesut Özil looked excellent for the Germans, I didn't know him. Early days yet and harder teams than Australia (with all due respect) will come up. But the potential is there for everyone to see, I believe we'll hear a lot about these young players in the coming years...Paulo

What is with the ties? Teams to scared to go for it? FIFA needs to address this stupid propensity for draws. Play till someone wins. Advance thru wins, not ties. Rewarding ties with points and you get what we are seeing, conservative play and playing to avoid a lose instead of earning a win. Open the game up. -- Al
