I like to look at the profiles of new members, out of curiosity, and lately I've been seeing things like this listed in the signatures, or in the message spaces on the profile page:

"cheap snapback hats for sale and Snapback Caps are enjoying a new trend today, which is everything that was old..is now new and cheap new era hats are no exception. The Snapback Cap style that was popular in the 80's are hugely popular, cheap hats particularly the Red Bull snapback Hats. "

Looks like we might have spammers sneaking past the gates again.

Prost!

Hi Brad,

We get them as we find them so if you see something odd report it so we can deal with it. Thanks for bring this one to our attention.

Dave

Gee I wish I knew those cheesy snapback hats would become popular again as I tossed all of mine years ago; nothing shows class more than a baseball hat worn of your favorite team with one of those snapbacks; what next, the mesh snapback hats make a comeback?

Thanks, Dave, I'll make sure to do so, going forward.

George--yeah, I hear ya, especially on the mesh caps. I can see the adjustables, if you're outfitting your softball team and have a budget, though I like fitted caps better (Manny's Baseball Land! That's where I used to get mine). But those mesh backs, with the fronts made out of some kind of foam material--fegh!

Wayne--what the heck is that? ^&grin

Prost!

We anxiously await your report and look forward to to sampling some at the Treefrog room in Chicago in September {eek3}

Wayne, I see now, I just looked at the "latest member" stat ;)

Padre, if I lived where you are, I think I'd have a season pass :D

I always liked the one "serving suggestion" depicted on some cans, where the Spam was cross-hatched and spiked with whole cloves, like a real ham. I haven't tried that yet, but thought it would be fun to do.

I like to slice it and pan-fry it, and have it with eggs and home fries, or put it on good rye or pumpernickel, with some cheese.

Prost!

Hawaii, I believe, has the highest consumption of Spam in the nation, Guam being second. Spam came from soldiers stationed here during WWII. Spam is best sliced thin and fried crisp, rendering all the fat out. Its comfort food for me. I also like "luncheon meat", which is like a sweeter version of spam.

My Mom used to roast bologna with cloves stuck in it !!

Hey, does this count as being SPAMMED? The back cover of the January 1942 issue of National Geographic magazine. I actually like SPAM (I think), but I haven't eaten it in years. I do remember it fried with eggs for breakfast and as a "ham" with cloves for dinner in the 1940s and 50s. Cold or hot...SPAM hits the spot!

Spam was frequent entree at our humble Mess Hall in Vietnam.
It was prepared in a variety of forms that had no effect on its flavor.

Brad,

It is getting worse since you posted this. I believe a majority of recent "new members" have links to some product as their signature. I just saw viagra today. A solution, if possible, would be to block any signature that is a link.

You're right, there seems to be an increase recently. I hope I'm not speaking out of turn when I say that Shannon's working with the spam filters to screen out this latest generation of spammers.

Prost!

I don't even know what a snapback cap is so I should probably click the link to learn more
Spammers are always out there and we keep on top of weeding them out pretty well. I banned about 5 of them yesterday and the 2 you have been talking about today. If you've been on other forums you'll notice we actually have minimal issues with spam on the Treefrog forum compared to many because of extra measures we take to keep the majority of them in the first place. Then we check all new memberships as time permits to weed out the ones that do manage to join.

For those of you hungry to know about Spam you'll be pleased to know I visited the Spam Museum a while back and when I saw how many of their exhibits and displays related to Hormel's ties to the military in wartime I took pictures to share with you. ;) I'll try to get them into an album for your perusal soon.
Best regards,
