I like Dr. Who,it's a good show but I love Torchwood.I never watched BBC America before but they have good shows Saturday night. The two named above,Ripper,Robin Hood and now this weekend a new one called Primeval starts.

I think these new Doctor Who episodes really keep the frenetic energy of the older shows. There is a lot of focus on aliens and strange physics type stuff - gotta love that.

A big "YEAH MAN" to that. Dr Who is the coolest hence my avatar! :D

Never got into Stargate the series though. I was a big fan of the original movie and I thought the villain RA was excellent. I had a major crush on the actress who played Sha'uri too. Absolutely gorgeous but I haven't seen her in anything since.

Best sci fi series ever has to go to Babylon 5, it had such a great storyline that really paid off if you had watched it all the way through. The whole Shadow war was so cool and you got a real sense that events were happening on a galactic scale.

Currently the best US sci fi show is Battlestar Galactica, only thing is it's unrelentingly dark in tone. There is just no humour or even lighter moment in there at all. Awesome story though and great acting from everyone. They are characters you really care about- even Tigh and Baltar!

Ripper? Don't know that one - is it the long mentioned Buffy spin off?
Who didn't love Buffy? My favourite programme ever ever! Even better than Doctor Who and that's saying something.

The new BBC Robin Hood is a bit pants really (pants means really bad in UK English). It has a weird vibe where things seem modern but medieval at the same time. that might work if the stories were any good but unfortunately the stories are pants! :)
It's not anywhere near as good as the old Robin of Sherwood series from the 80's.

The girl that plays Maid Marion is a bit of a tricky one. On the one hand she seem to be a total babe on the other she looks like she has the biggest chin on screen. I think probably babe overall. :)

Couldn't agree more mate,Robin Hood is pants.I know its escapism and not to be taken too seriously, but come on,how often is he going to get captured in the Castle and then escape from the Castle!.The guy who invented Castles must be spinning in his grave at his lack of basic security measures!!

Keith Allen is very good as the Sheriff though.

Buffy, now thats a whole different ball game absolutely love the programme(we have all the dvd box sets:eek:).James,i have one word for you my friend 'Faith'!.She could slay my demons anytime.Great writing and humour too.

Yep Faith was kind of hot beyond belief! :D I think it was that whole bad girl thing she had going on.
Buffy was hot too though and so was Willow when she got all Witched up.

Remember that episode from season 2 where Buffy pulls a rocket launcher out of nowhere to destroy an evil demon? I think that was the moment when I realised this programme was unbelievably cool. :)

Thats right!.Doesn't the demon say something like 'Whats that'? Just before Buffy pulls the trigger!.Faith did have that bad girl/****ty thing going on,more power to her i say;).Another brilliantly played part was Drusilla, she was both funny and creepy at the same time. There were also some very funny episodes such as the one in which Xander became attractive to Women.

Rob

LOL yeah and somehow Xander got to go out with Cordelia, Willow and Anya. :) Plus he had a one night stand with Faith and ended up nearly dead :D but what a way to go!

Drusilla was good too. Absoluetly barking mad but really creepy and evil at the same time. Glory was a good villain too. I need to go back and rewatch my boxsets.

Joss Whedon (the Buffy creator) is currently writing Buffy season 8 for Dark Horse Comics. He picks up the story where the final season finished off and it has the same blend of humour and characterisation and demon butt kicking.

LOL! What a way indeed!!:D.There were some cool fights between her and Buffy weren't there..my wife used to say 'I bet this is killing you watching these two isn't it'?;):D

One Drusilla line that sticks in my mind as so creepy was when she said to that kid playing on the roundabout 'What will your mummy say when they find your body'!!!.Very creepy and very well acted.

I really liked the way they made Wilow get gradually more evil.

I haven't actually seen Firefly but i did really enjoy the film "Serenity" that was based on it. Thought it was a really enjoyable sci fi adventure film. It has a great performance from Summer Glau who kicks butt and takes names and then goes on to become The Terminator in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" :)

Firefly is a well written and acted series with some terrific special effects that look great on a wide screen. I didn't know Summer was taking over the Sarah Conner role. I'm sorta keen on the mechanic in Firefly - but she never answers my emails ;)

I just started watching Torchwood and so far I like it a great deal. I loved the old Dr Who and the new one until Billie Piper left.:( The new girl does nothing for me and seems have not bothered to learn any acting skills.

No, Summer Glau is the good Terminator in the TV series. She's plays it well but it's a very similar role to her role in Firefly as River Tam.
She even gets to say "Come with me if you want to live" but she's no Arnie! :)

I've changed my avatar to Summer as the Terminator now!

Just watched the new Stargate movie and thought it was pretty good.I loved the series and thought it was great how they tied science fiction to Egyptian mythology.I bring this up on this forum as I think they show the honor of today's men and women in our armed forces. If you watch the movie check out the special feature where they went to the Arctic to shoot scenes for the movie.I use to look foward to Fridays as it was end of the work week, pay day and STARGATE!Long live Col. Jack O'Neill!

Wow, seems she has filled out a bit since Firefly. I did really like her in that series, although it was harder to notice her with Morena Baccarin around. I might have to check the Terminator show out.;)

Yo Troopers, big Stargate fan, and Mainly now Atlantis, just watched Continuum. Verdict; what a load of codswallop, unless I nodded off somewhere. They get Transported back to 1939 I am ok with that, they are on the ice cap and a Nuclear Sub picks them up Hello its 1939, then "how did you know we where here Jack" picked this up on the Satellite Hello again its still 1939 then we know you Sam you are an Astronaut "WHAT the Germans hadn't even invented the V2 think its still 1939, then all watching TV and decide to phone each other on their mobile phones, wonder if it was Vodaphone, Then Bahl uses a mobile phone he brought back in time to phone the president from space. Come on guys lets get at least some of it believable.
Bernard.

nah, Bahl goes back to 1939 and the rest of the stargate team stay in the present day, but the "present" has been changed by Bahl going back :)
