Background

The 5th Panzer Army under General Hasso Von Manteuffel was on the offensive and the town Clervaux is the only last chance for the Allies to delay the advance of the 2nd Panzer division and the
26th Volks grenadier division.

As the sound of the guns drew near to Clervaux, in the town of Heinerscheid on the morning of 16th December the Americans hastily drew up their defenses, the MP on the motorcycle direct the civilians to stay in the house under cover.Ammo boxes were hurried by the Americans up to the sandbags positions that were in the process of being set up, a American Sherman tank was being repaired by the mechanics for the upcoming German onslaught.

Two American GIs were Interrogating a wounded German SS soldier that was picked up in a patrol the night before, the statement given by the SS prisoner was discomfitting, Clervaux was clearly in the
path of the german offensive in a bid to reach bastogne.

Grim faced American soldiers were coming up the town from the front, they provide news of the advance of the German army and they were on their way to Wiltz. A medic and two soldiers were carrying
a badly wounded American GI on a litter and were in a rush to the next Aid station. All these indications that the Germans were coming.

There is no time left......

Well done . Love the story behind the scene . Very small remark: I think the MP on the motorbike has lost his way . The big red 1 was stationed in and around the city of Liège in Belgium on the Northern front of the battle and not in Luxembourg .

Hi guy, thanks for the heads up, now I learn something. I did not know that I got a rogue MP, I will get
him court -marshalled for leaving his post. :D

The defence of Clervaux was in the hands of the 707th Tank Destroyer Battalion and the 110th Infantry Regiment belonging to the 28th infantry Div . "The Bloody Bucket". Their sleeve insignia is very easy to make and can be glued over 1st inf Div insignia of the MP
