Took delivery earlier this week of the four guys in the foreground. New releases I believe- well for me in the UK that is. In this scene I've mixed them up with some older Britain releases that I picked up loose (unboxed) from a private dealer at the London show last month (and at a snip of a price {eek3})

But I couldn't help but notice that these three particular Reb Infantrymen and their NCO are much better shaded than the other Brits I have in my collection. Darker tint on their faces, uniforms have a nice distinctive shading that has not been so prevalent before and the detail on their blanket rolls have- especially on two of them- even surpassed the usual excellence one associates with Britains Reb rolls. Well done Ken they make a great little group.

I also love the expression on the loading guy's face -most probably due (in my scenario) to being highly amused at watching those "Darn Yankees" run.

Oh! and the groundwork in the dio is another London pick-up a grass and soil mat which I'm extremely pleased with as I find there are certain scenes such as for hard ground based artilley batteries or more specifcally Redoubts where a soil base mat works better than grass.

Absolutely superb work my friend, just fantastic. And that really is good ground work Bob, JG really produce some terrific items don't they. Great work Bob thanks for posting.

I just got these last week myself Bob and I totally agree with your observations (See my comments http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?30906-ACW-Much-Needed-Reinforcements). Ken Osen's sculpting is always spot on because as a historian, researcher, and a ACW re-enactor, besides being a talented artist/sculptor, he knows how the common soldier wore his equipment and the adoptations he made in the field to make their uniform more efficient to suit their personal needs. A great example of this is the new Confederate Infantry Standing Firing WB #31089, released in conjunction with your new foursome, is sculpted with a "looped knot" in his cloth canteen strap, a common field adjustment by the ACW soldier, on both sides, to changed the height at which he wore his canteen. Only a sculptor that has actually "lived it" or "done it" would think of these small details. I also agree that it was very apparent in these recent releases that the painting and shading is much improved. Great acquisitions to your collection Bob, and as always really very nice photography . . . .

Nice set up and photos Bob... and thanks for the kind comments all.

Richard and I are working hard to fill gaps in the ACW line over the next few years. This includes important subjects to enable better story telling, and dioramas for all of our collectors. I am looking forward to see what you and other collectors will do with them when they arrive!
All the Best,
Ken

Sounds very promising Ken! I hope flag bearers for the 69th PA will be among the great items you are planning. And the idea of more dioramas sounds great. The 2nd Wisconsin series you created is one of my favorite toy soldiers series ever.

I just opened my figures. They are great. Britains painters and Ken's sculpting is getting better with every release. Britain's is producing higher quality figures while keeping their pricing under control. I also unboxed by barn tonight. A larger building then the farmhouse and it's less expensive. They also look great with First Legions ACW.

Very nice pieces and display. Makes me want to add some Rebs to my collection. Chris
