Anybody have an idea what the new tariff's will have on prices of King and Country in the U.S?

We already have a thread addressing this (trade and tariffs) but the latest information is that
"toys" are on the import tariff list. However, there is some information that claims that shipping from HK will exempt
those exporters from tariffs. K&C has been very quiet on this issue but ultimately if there are 25% tariffs it will impact
our costs and their business. Time will tell.

I thought the Chinese were paying the Tariffs? Same as the Mexicans and the wall [sorry could not resist].

Hi Guys,
In regard to the above subject...As no one, including myself, knows exactly what is going on it's not difficult to remain silent on the issue...
We all know the old adage..."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt!"

Seriously though, has ANY other toy soldier/military manufacturer currently working in China stepped into the spotlight and shared their thoughts on the subject..?

Let's wait and see...
Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy.

Yes, the information on shipping tariff free from HK came from other TS makers. However, I agree with Andy that until we know for sure there is little to say.
Hopefully this will be resolved soon and China will understand that they can't have it all their way.

Cheers Andy, I agree, living in the UK it will not affect us, there are no manufacturers that has said anything.

Interesting point.

But whilst on politics, - have you noticed how much Pound Sterling has crashed since Brexit and how much more we in the UK are paying for these imported toy soldiers? The price increases are incessant.

We live in turbulent times with a distinct lack of leadership.

I agree UK prices are high, but that is a discussion that has been played to death on this forum, most collectors tend to buy from UK distributors and some figures such as First Legion are just too expensive for me when compared with what you can get from other manufacturers, but some like myself do buy from overseas, for me mainly the Warpark figures direct and I always do check but it has been relatively small increases as and when I have bought, looking now they are still worth it so may buy the newest.

the drop in the £ is only going to get worse I feel with all this uncertainty and our leadership. On UK leadership at the minute watching them it is like a circus that is turning into a Greek tragedy.

For me shipping costs from the USA are the real killer and now only buy from the EU

When I buy on ebay, I try to stick to continental Europe .
UK: prices of all items are too high
USA: shipping cost is sometimes as high as the price of the figure ( if the 25% import tariff will apply it'll be totally over and out )
I prefer by far my local toy soldier shop

Some US, as European dealers offer free shipping as long as you spend over a certain amount. Exchange rates also of course make a difference.

I do not buy from the US for the same reason, TSRARE in Italy are very good, free postage on orders over €140. Just bought 5 K & C sets from them.

Shipping is expensive from the US to the UK, one of the higher ones. Another example, in order to send an expensive large tank via US Postal Express mail (which is fully tracked and insured), that runs nearly $105 for a well packed box. That is the true cost for that service and if I am buying a $500 item, I tend to want to make sure it arrives intact. That said, the cost of shipping is becoming a deterrent all over.

Even in the USA, for me to send say 1 K&C tank from East Coast Maryland to West Coast California (it is an oversized box), priority mail is about $30 and parcel post (ground, slow shipping) is about $27 in that case. When the box gets even larger, it will climb to nearly $50 plus priority. When I trade/sell with the West Coast, people do not realize how expensive shipping really is.

...and forget UPS or any similar service, the cost is through the roof! A friend was trying to send a small framed poster from the US to Australia and UPS was asking for $800!
