Hi Guys,

This year, 2018, marks the 50th Anniversary of the TET OFFENSIVE of 1968... the major turning point of the Vietnam War.

2018 is also the 20th Anniversary of KING & COUNTRY’s own first venture into the Vietnam War that originally featured soldiers, marines, fighting vehicles, helicopters and even... a complete ‘Firebase’ model!

Back in 1998 K&C focused then on the war in the jungle and countryside... This time we’re moving into the urban cities and towns of South Vietnam that were targeted by the NVA (North Vietnamese Army) and the VC (Viet Cong) during their offensive at TET, the Lunar New Year.

The plan, hatched in Hanoi, was to attack ALL important cities, towns and military bases across South Vietnam simultaneously. The Communists believed that their attack would encourage a popular uprising among the people against the U.S. and the Government in Saigon and together they would end the war victoriously... and quickly.

KING & COUNTRY’s own plan is to ‘zero in’ on the longest and bloodiest struggle of the TET OFFENSIVE... The Battle of Hue, (the old imperial capital) and the U.S. Marines who played such an important part in the city’s recapture.

At this year’s TEXAS TOY SOLDIER SHOW, Saturday & Sunday, 26 & 27 May (Memorial Day Weekend) our central theme will be “TET ’68... The Battle That Changed The War.

Throughout the show we will be launching our latest U.S. Marines in Combat together with previewing some of the unusual fighting vehicles the Marines used to retake the city.

“THE SATURDAY NIGHT SYMPOSIUM”
I’m also happy to report the return of our “SATURDAY NIGHT SYMPOSIUM” with some Special Guests of Honor... among them Capt. Raymond Lau.
Ray, a former U.S.M.C. officer was in Hue itself when TET erupted! Cut off behind enemy lines he, with four other American advisers, spent eight perilous days fighting their way out before rejoining friendly forces. His story is unique and provides another viewpoint of the Battle of Hue at that time... and well worth hearing.

After completing his ‘hitch’ in the Corps Ray went on to join the Central Intelligence Agency and worked in other parts of Indochina before retiring in 2000.

Obviously, there’s a lot more I will be telling and showing you in the days and weeks before the Show... So, watch this space!

All the best and happy collecting!
Andy.

WOW. These figures look very exciting. Hopefully we can see some Military Police as upcoming releases. They also played a big part during the Tet offensive.

Andy,

These look excellent. Very exciting news ^&cool

This looks an interesting new series. K & C are really moving into "post-war". The "Mule" in particular looks very good. For background reading I strongly recommend the recent book by Mark Bowden (the author of Back Hawk Down) Hue 1968 - very good.

I don't collect Vietnam stuff, but you would be crazy if you think I am going to pass up those medical sets. I also love the other figures... so tempting!

Looks like you've come up with another exciting range of USMC Andy, will these be priced the same as the Pacific Marines or a bit more ?

Steve

Nice Andy!

Can't wait for more vehicles too, troops look great, love the mule!
Tom

Excited to see these in person next month!

Looking forward to you joining us all in the Lone Star State!
Thanks to ALL of you guys for your enthusiastic welcome to this dramatic new major series...

Adios for now..
Andy.

One question Andy... Can we expect a Huey Chopper?????
Bill Sager

My one complaint is that a lot of recent releases have been Marines instead of Army. I think Andy might be biased....

Marine M-48s played an important role in Hue. Hopefully one will eventually appear in this range. Also of course at the same time the Israelis were also using basically the same 90mm version. A chance here for K & C to provide armour for two ranges?

Count me in!

I remember there was a photo of half a dozen marines or so crouched down behind an M48 that appeared all over the place.

Steve

Hi Andy,

Good to see these Vietnam Marines.Looking sharp. Better news is the Symposium is back for the Texas Show !

Wayne

Figures are well done, interesting poses and face expressions.

Andy,

For me is a great surprise.

Like some of the poses.

I would love to see a chopper of the 1st Cavalry Division in this range....:wink2:

Regards,

Maccoy

I have been waiting for these, just about given up hope and spent my money else where. But I didn't, I'll be in for every set. Thanks Andy.
