Hi Guys,

Following last week's TEXAS SHOW Announcement... Here is a preview of the first Advertisement that will be appearing in the Toy Soldier magazines and elsewhere talking about and illustrating our "Battle of Hue" USMC in combat.

Best wishes and... Semper Fi!

VN 013 is a terrific looking figure as I have seen many photos like that.

I think it's wise that you're focusing on one particular battle, not to mention that since Hue was the ancient capital of the Nguyen dynasty, there is a possibility of many different buildings.

These first offerings are certainly grabbing attention. I think I could be persuaded to start collecting another range ! {sm4}

You're right about Hue and the buildings opportunities.....

and what about mounting that M247 Mule pictured with an optional M40 106mm recoilless rifle; just a thought.

I can't think of this battle without a M48 rolling up a street in support, can you?

Think the movie "Full Metal Jacket".

Oh, Ya' they should be a natural fit to the USMC16, USMC32 and USMC39.
GREAT suggestion, Steve.

An ONTOS would be a great AFV to have in a collection of Vietnam. I'm in for one "The Thing"

Andy,Nize..real nize....So a few 'in country 'observations..
ONTOs loaded outside of vehicle..VERY thin-skinned..fire a volley down a street..ram in reverse and didimao..RPGs towards back-blast created smoke.
Grunts did carry shotguns,LAAWs,3.5 rocket launchers(bazooka for line doggies),shotgunners & 3.5 Marines w/.45pistol.
Corpsmen armed w/.45 or M-16
RTO needs smoke grenades.
Bayonets/K-Bars & gas masks(CS was used at HUE).
Green towels around necks,Dogtags in boots.Cargo pockets stuffed with....???!!!
After 3 months ,jungle boots turned almost white(we ,in the field, never polished those suckers)
Tape 2- 20 round mags together for quick change.
Fanny packs seen here.squad leaders with whistles
Some jarheads wore their cover under steel pot.
Plenty of cigarette use during daytime
All with 2 canteens(Corpsman with 3 or collapsible bladder..sometimes).
Crew carried 106-RR.(not far!)-mounted on tri-pod.
M-14s still in use.

It's late..sack time abides.
Adios Amigo!

Andy,

OOOHRAH! I have not been excited about a release for a while. This one will get my full attention. I agree with others, bring on the "Thing"!

Semper Fi.

I may re-read Hue by Mark Bowden in anticipation! Nice job Andy!

Hi Guys,
Mark Bowden's book on the Battle for Hue is his best, in my humble opinion, since 'Black Hawk Down' and a 'must-read' for anyone interested in the longest and bloodiest battle of the 1968 TET Offensive.

Talking of which...I spent all day today up with our Sculpting Team in China reviewing their/our newest 'Vietnam' figures which includes both NVA (North VietnameseArmy) and VC (Viet Cong) in action fighting opposite the USMC in Hue.

I am really excited about this new series and again want to thank you all for your enthusiastic support of this 'different' approach to the Vietnam conflict.

With best wishes and appreciation,
Andy & The K&C Team.

Andy, I like the fact you're concentrating on one particular battle rather than doing something more generic for the war. I think this adds more interest and encourages those of us who don't know too much about the battle to learn more.

Cheers!

For those looking for a general history of the War, as well as a background history of Vietnam, I recommend Stanley Karnow’s Vietnam: A History.

If you’re looking for a good novel (and there is a whole body of literature), I recommend The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien.

Here’s a link to other Vietnam books. Please look at the comments as they have a lot great suggestions.

Please also take a look at page 9 of my Vietnam thread, which has the list broken out. See https://forum.treefrogtreasures.com/showthread.php?61858-Vietnam-67/page9

All excellent suggestions, Brad...Also well worth 'Re looking' at is Stanley Kubrick's 'Full Metal Jacket'...his unique version of a small part of the Battle of Hue.
Best wishes and happy collecting,
Andy.

Thanks Jazzeum. I’ve read many of the classic Vietnam war books, but not come across Tim O’brien’s.
Also, though not direclty about Hue, but Karl Marlantes’s Vietnam book Matterhorn is superb.
