Texas Show (2 Viewers)

The show isn't until the 30th and 31st, so you still have time to plan your arrival.

Oh, ....
Never mind then, I ask again in two weeks  :)
Konrad

Okay,

Ed, Harold, Carlos, Beau and Alex.

I hope I see you there.

I know I will see Harold (Fubar),

he has a booth at the show,

"BLACKCAT MINIATURES",

our own Treefrogger,

Harold Scott Odden.

John, I will try to get the new King's X Exclusive figure photos you asked for.

If anybody has any requests for photos, just ask.

I'll do my best, other than that, I'll just take a lot of photos.

Hope to see you there,

bring lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:eek::eek::eek:

Sorry but I cancelled my room and won't be going now. Too much stuff going on here that I can't break away from. :(

Mike,
Some pictures of Naughty Nurses from Mad Dogs posing with figures/dios in Kings X would be nice !:):D:):D:):D
Regards from Downunder
Brett

Alex,
Sorry to hear that you will not be there this year. I was hoping to compare notes with you again this year on what you bought and what you thought of the show. I will be leaving in a few hours to San Antonio. I will inform you on what I find.
Lou

I'm going to post some pictures of the San Antonio Toy Soldier Show.

I just got back today and am exhausted, but I'm going to at least get started on the thread now.

Okay,

so we arrived at our room Friday around noon at the Menger, where the show was being held.

If you've ever stayed at the Menger, you know it's an old hotel, but is both historically and grandly appointed.

This is the room we ended up in finally, after being moved twice.

The room is the one on the right corner of the balcony and the two windows to the right of it.

We ended up in a "suite" upgrade for free after a lot of confusion.

I had requested a balcony, since the hotel is 100% smoke free and because I smoke, I figured I could "cheat" out there.

For some reason, upon arrival, they upgraded us and put me in one of the "penthouse" suites, which had a patio that was not accessible.

We complained and they moved us to a smaller room with a patio, that was also not accessable.

We complained again and they gave us this great room that was a suite, with 4 closets, 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette, two tv's, a king bed, and a large accessable veranda.

So, the moral is............."keep whining til you get what you want".

As you can see, I'm a good packer, I brought everything I needed.

Everybody probably already knows that King's X is located in the Menger. If you're a K&C aholoic, you're in heaven.

Lots of cool stuff in there.

I'm going to post some photos tomorrow after I catch my breath.

This is Martin, he seemed like he ran the show at King's X and attended both days of the show in different uniforms.

He invited us to a private party in the King's X that was fun and they served drinks and cheese trays. It's really a great shop and they have several very cool large and small dioramas to view.

Okay,

I'm stopping for now.

I'm tired.

I promise tomorrow I will show some photos of the show, some Treefroggers that were there, lots of dioramas on display and some cool diorama stuff.

John asked for some photos of the new King's X exclusives, and I got him some of those, but I'm spent right now, so I'll start again tomorrow.

Thanks for the first pics, Michael, but where are you? I only saw the good-lookin' woman with some old guy, and Santa Ana. :D

Lets start with FUBAR.

Harold Scott Odden, one of Treefrog's best.

It was my understanding that all the booth dealers were drug tested before admittance was permitted in the show area.

I dunno.

Harold kept ducking under the table for something everytime I glanced his way.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

No, for real, I just don't take good pictures.

Fubar had his stuff out.

BLACKCAT MINIATURES.

His Spartans are wicked cool.

Posed and painted so nice.

I couldn't resist, I bought 10 of them.

Didn't get to talk to him as much as I would have liked, seemed like his booth was always busy, but I give a strong testimonial for his painted Spartans.

THEY WERE REALLY SWEET!!!!!:cool::cool::cool:

John aka NJJA, requested some photos from King's X if they were showing their new K&C exclusives.

My photos do not do them justice.

These are really nice sculpts and expertly painted.

I own some K&C, from the Crusaders and Saracens series.

I have been trying hard to concentrate on John Jenkins, but these are tempting up close.

I can promise you one thing, my photos do not do them right.

These were in a plastic display case and the glare was a "son of a gun".

Ed aka EBORRIS, one of Treefog's own, was at the show.

Ed hadn't sold out of his figures in the first 5 minutes of the door opening and might have a little surly, but he did smile really big for this photo opportunity.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I thought he was getting ready to knock the camera out of my hands, take his glasses off and ask if I wanted in 5 minute lesson on "bare knuckle boxing".

Jusy kidding, Ed was far from surly and was a pleasure to chat with.

I'm glad to have finally met Ed and he is a really nice guy.

Mark Vuncannon, of BUILD-A-RAMA was there.

I know everbody is familiar with his mats................grass, water, desert or any custom theme your heart desires.

If you have not seen one up close, then you have no idea how realistic they really are.

He had everything at his booth and it was always busy.

A great product draws a crowd.

Cordial, personable, intersting and talented, he puts on a great display.

His crew was dressed in brown BUILD-A-RAMA t-shirts and was the friendliest group at the show.

If you have not looked at his website, don't delay, this guy is the king of cinematic diorama props.

Whatever you want.

I bought about 15 trees from him and pulled them out at least 3 times in my hotel room just to drool over them.

The palm trees are the best I have ever seen and the "rubbled" buildings made me want to buy European World War soldiers.......they are that good.

Talk about talented!!!!!!:cool::cool::cool:

All good quality realistic stuff.................all of it.:cool::cool:

Brian, from Collecor's Showcase was there in full force.

Personable and friendly, he chatted with everyone............

and why not,

when your stuff looks that good............

you can look a potential customer in the eye with confidence.

At least a half dozen small dioramas dotted his booth.

The next one was better than the last.

These are really AWESOME figures up close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The poses are FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!

The painting and the shadow washes are so defined.

Jammed in, one next to the other, they all commanded your attention.

I tried to avoid his booth, just because I was afraid I would buy them all.

I guarantee, the next manufacturer I start collecting, will be Collector's Showcase.

These are some assorted photos from the show and some from King's X.

If I mistakenly posted a photo for the wrong booth, I apologize.

I had over 220 photos on my memory card when I downloaded them and got a little confused.

Feel free to correct me if you see something in the wrong spot.

I think the show was a success from the vendors I talked to.

I know it was a success from the attendees and myself.

VERY ENJOYABLE for my first show ever.

The Menger did a good job in hosting.

I bought at least 6 structures (buildings, fortifications)
some fences,
some nice campfires,
some trees,
some gates,
some plastic soldiers (the Spartans from Fubar that I'm dying to pose and paint)
and even found some semi scarce John Jenkin's Robert's Rangers sets
(RR.1, RR.3 and RR.4).

I couldn't visit San Antonio without proper kudos to the Alamo.

It would seem almost sacreligious.

I was born in Dallas, Texas,

and like most Texans,

we are proud of the Alamo and of it's historical impact on the birth of this state.

You drive through here and you will see lots of bumper stickers..............

"AMERICAN BY BIRTH................TEXAN BY THE GRACE OF GOD!"

It was my pleasure.:D
