Texas toy soldier show 2013 (2 Viewers)

Jason mate,
I will look forward to that very much cobber.^&grin High Noon at the British Mad Dog Bar.:smile2:
Cheers Howard

Howard:

Yup and I am buying the first round!

Why is it that my drinking skills are always put to the test when you are involved????

Best,
Jason

A nice cold dos XX beer with lime standing next to the mad dogs girls right there by KingsX makes for a great combination IMO. You can have your drinks, enjoy the scenery and go inside the shop and go on a spending spree {sm3}
Who could ask for anything more for a Texas pre show party ^&grin

The Mad Dog girls, the fellowship, Mengers and KingsX sounds great, but forget the fruit in the beer caper.:smile2:
Cheers Howard

PS So looking forward to returning to beautiful San Antonio

Howard, Cobber Mate......You really have to try one of those Dos XX beer's with lime.............As we say in Texas "WunderBar" {sm3}Looking forward to linking up with all of the fellow collectors and Treefroggers there
at the show. By the way last year the food at the Saturday dinner was very good.I think I had 3rd's if I do remember correctly ^&grin

Sorry Texans and Australians, the Irish got it right when it comes to beer, there is only one................Guinness. No substitute unless you want to add Harp and have a half and half.

Tom ,

Guinness is one of my favorites...Also have you tried a black & tan ? Mix of Guinness & Bass Ale...if you haven't i recommend it...
I am not having a Guinness this weekend but i am doing an Irish Theme with Jameson & a splash of Ginger Ale with a lime ! Have a good weekend !

I like Guiness but prefer something more refreshing like a Lager in our hot climate.

Several years back I tried some (Mexican) Corona at a bbq and didn't think much of it. The guy that gave it to me said I should push a slice of lemon in the neck of the bottle like he did. I tried that and it did improve the taste, but then I guess it would improve the taste of cat's urine, just kidding guys. A friend who is from California and still visits the US regularly says Corona is only $1 a bottle in the US and popular with younger drinkers, but at it's current price of about $5 in Australia it has to compete with premium beers.

When I first moved to the great State of Texas I could not and still do not understand the concept of “fruiting” the beer. I am a Bitburger or Warsteiner man myself. If I have to go English I can do Boddingtons in the can or if I have to go Euro I can do Czechvar. Aussie wise I would go with Carlton. Guinness is too thick and heavy for me, every time I drink it I feel like I should be pouring it on pancakes while I listen to U2 whine about some new injustice in the world. I am not really a fan of Mexican beer either, it is like drinking bottled-water (where are the hops?????). However, much like toy soldiers though, to each their own.

I think it is time for me to come clean on one thing though. In all my time in San Antonio, I still have not been to Mad Dogs.

Matt ,

That is true Corona is popular here in the States especially during the summer when it is hot because it's a lighter beer...I use a lime when i drink Corona never used a lemon...also true is Corona is not very expensive here...$1 a beer is about right...
Something to try for the summer is Vodka & Lemonade , goes down easy & refreshing !!

Joe, at $1 a beer I reckon I could get used to Corona, I'll give Vodka & Lemonade a try as there's plenty of Summer to go here ^&grin

Agreed Tom, Guinness is a great drop and it also can be classified as part of a food group! {sm4}

I did, had to get some more food today for visiting relations and dropped into to the bottleshop to top up the beer supplies (bludgers). I spent some time in their cold room (was a hot day) and noticed a box of 10 International beers for $25. Included was a green bottle of Dos Equis XX Lager Especial, I tried it first and it wasn't too bad at all. Not saying it's the best beer I've had but far from the worst.

Bitte ein Bit! My favorite, and I am enjoying one now.

Guinness was served to patients in hospitals at one time over the pond because of it's nutritional value. I really like the stuff as well, and have sampled some on a visit to the brewery in Dublin back in 1982. Nectar!

Wish I could come- I love San Antonio, the Menger, King's X, and I have heard the show is great. Too far and no time, though.

RPZ:

I am a bit jealous! I am in California on business right now and Bitburger is a ‘bit’ hard to find here. Good thing the HEB carries it, I will be picking some up as soon as I land back home!
