Texas War of Independence (3 Viewers)

**** nice sets tommy, love the lancers. Looks like len could have done some french line lancers easily

Thanks Hawkeye. Santa Anna fancied himself as the "Napoleon of the West" so there is a lot of French influence in his army's uniforms. I wish Len had produced a Mexican artillery set and a casualty set for this series. I think the Alamo Facade and walls are the best I have seen.

Tommy,
The Alamo facade and walls make this set. It is great seeing it.

Tommy,

I thank you again for these super pictures. I just wanted to point out that the standing Davy Crockett with the rifle across his waist is from the Wild West Set by Trophy. It is Set # WW10 and is marked as Young Davy Crockett. I wish I could post a picture of William Travis TX 1 which is wearing a blue coat and firing a pistol in his right hand with a pistol in his left hand pointed at the ground. TX3 of Jim Bowie is seated on a separate stool . He is wearing a red shirt and holding a pistol in each hand with his Bowie knife stuck in the dirt between his knees. The Davy Crockett TX2 is like the ALA 1 except the base is oval rather than rectangular with a sort of dirt on the base. These 3 figures are all marked 99 under the base with the T over M insignia. I thus conclude they were revised in 1999. They are pictured in the Kings X brochure from Fall 2001-2002. I think I sent you a copy of that page. I have no idea how to post a picture. I am sorry.

It continues to be such a pleasure Tommy seeing your photos of the series an the Lancers have been a standout Len had a knack with creating his Lancer in all of his series they appeared in.{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

I really appreciate your comments. The young Davy Crockett has a green base. I haven't seen Bowie seated on a stool. When Mike of Trophy of Texas got Len to redo some of the sets, these resulted. Mike got Len also to rework the Alamo facade and add the walls.

Joe and Mark thanks and glad you enjoyed these sets.

I still am looking for the six Defenders of the Alamo. They seem to be avoiding me. I would be most indebted for any help. arostel@yahoo.com or private message. Thanks.

It is almost 4 months since my last comment. I still am looking for the Six Alamo Defenders. Isn't there someone who can offer them to me or know of someone who might have them? This is my top priority. Thanks. I would be indebted.

I know that the original figures of Crockett, Travis & Bowie each came in a set fighting a Mexican. These I believe were sold by Stone Castle in the mid 90's. In the late 90's the figures were sold through Kings X and the series was expanded. New revised figures were done of Crockett, Travis & Bowie. These seem to be much more rare. I was told once that there might have only been about a dozen of Bowie done in the revised pose. I am sending a picture to Tommy tomorrow of these 3 revised poses and hopefully he can put it on this thread. The Crockett appears to be the same but has a sort of peanut shaped base showing an earth sequence instead of the rectangular base. The Travis has two pistols instead of a sword and a pistol and is painted in a blue jacket. Bowie comes in two pieces. He is a seated figure with a separate crate that he sits on. His Bowie knife is stuck in the ground between his knees. I think these 3 figures are really nice. They are quite rare. The Crockett and Travis just sold on ebay last week but they are hardly ever seen. I think most collectors don't even know the revised poses exist. Now I hope Tommy can post the picture.

The top photo is that of Art's new figures. The bottom three photos are my older figures in hand to hand sets. Tommy

Tommy,

Thanks so much for posting and for showing the three figures in fighting poses too.

After searching for several years I just obtained the six Defenders of the Alamo. I now need only the Texas flagbearer TX16 and the Gun Artillery Crew with a cannon and four defenders. I also need the facade and the side wall with a ladder. Any help is appreciated. arostel@yahoo.com

Just today I received the Trophy Texan Flagbearer (TX16) that I was looking for. Now I only need TX14 the Cannon Artillery Set or Gun Battery set with a cannon & 4 Texas Defenders. I also would like the Facade & Side wall section for the Alamo in resin. If anyone could help me or pass some information to me I would be so appreciate. Write me a private message or email me at arostel@yahoo.com Thanks

Great picture Tommy. Now if I can just find that TX14 Alamo Gun Battery with a cannon & four Texan Defenders and the resin Trophy Alamo Facade and side wall section with a ladder.

Thanks to Tommy I now have the TX14 Cannon Gun Battery set, the Alamo Facade and the side wall section. He did me one great service by finding them for me. I am indebted big time to him.

Recent acquisition of US2 with a note from Len that this was the pre-production set
