Perhaps also go back to your zulu war period and bring out a hand full of unique ones, casualties, 2 piece sets on single base hand to hand 24th Foot and zulu,

24th foot on the ground zulu on him etc,

also with Greeks and Persians no more standard poses like every one, have 2 peice sets traditional persian immortal hand to hand with spartan, shield smacking persian in the face etc.

we need great battle poses in all ranges unique and different

As we can expect some Roman Engineers next month and hopefully they will prove a huge hit and sell well enough that others will follow. So how about a couple of sections of Roman Road, a complete section and a section under construction complete with ditches on each side. Perhaps without much if any camber so as not to make it difficult for figures to stay upright though !^&grin

Add to that a piece or pieces for a of section of Hadrian's wall under construction or even a Watchtower !

Also into the mix how about a Marching camp in sections, say one for a straight with ditch, turf rampart and some stake defences, a corner section and a plain section for tents to be pitched in.

I think a lot of Roman empire collectors would be very happy to see all of those produced and would certainly complement what K&C with their Mile Fort have done and JJD will with their forthcoming wooden Fort.

Hi Sonia, thank you for your polite response to my critical comments. It's good to know that your company has made the changes you mentioned and I will certainly consider the new Kubelwagen model(s).


I have a number of Waffen SS figure sets made by TGM, I especially liked the Six Mounted 'Spring' figures in that range with their camo uniforms. Can you tell me if TGM intend to issue any more Waffen SS figures with similar camo uniforms in the future?

I also collect the WW2 Aussies and some Japanese from your RS range and intend to buy the Aussie 6 Pounder gun and crew etc. BTW will TGM produce a proper Jeep? I didn't bother with the earlier Bantam version that had limited if any actual combat use.

Further more, why do TGM make so many Prototype sets, such as the Bantam Jeep and the VI with cockpit etc rather than those used in actual combat?

IMO it's better to produce sets that were actually used in combat as most collectors prefer to expand their existing ranges rather than have a random collection of 'one off' display pieces.

Yes Oz Digger we will make a 'proper' Jeep at some point and some more SS figures - these are already sculpted and will be with us soon. We do have another 3 vehicles in various production stages as we speak, if time and finances permit we will make around 6 pieces this year.

I hope if TG does any Roman fortifications they get the size of the parapet correct. The K&C Mile Castle parapet is too short for the figures; thus their heads are above the top, not much protection for the Legionnaires! I had to build my own fortifications to get the size right for 60mm figures.

Barzos excellent Nottingham Castle has the same problem. The figures are oversize for the Merlons on the walls. Reminds me of my Marx Robin Hood Castle when I was a kid many years ago.

I think the manufacturers tend to lean toward fortification designs that will allow the figures to be visible...a stage for the figures more or less. So I understand when the merlons and crenels are made in such a way. I did the same thing when I made a diorama of a small segment of Hadrian's wall.
I know what you mean though as I like the idea of having things made how they truly were, but then again these are more or less accessories used to accentuate the soldiers, and if you can't see the figures it defeats the purpose a little bit. It's a choice everyone who builds a fortification has to make in terms of parapet height relative to the walkway level. It's an interesting topic. In the end I believe both "styles" have merit and I imagine, depending on the project, I would not always do it the same way....just depends on what the goal of the designer is.

Andy; please see my post The Siege of Aquileia 167AD under General Matte Discussion. The Roman Gateway, Wall Section and Artillery Tower are built from Exin Bros. blocks and are scaled to be correct for 60mm figures. The Ram, Siege Tower and Ballista in the diorama are from Elastolin. The figures are from K&C, TCS, Conte and Del Prado. Several of your excellent Barbarian figures from 2006 are used. I would appreciate your opinion of this diorama.

The Siege of Aquileia took place in 167 AD during the invasion of Northern Italy by the Marcomanni during the reign of Marcus Aurelius. The Praetorian Guard Legion and its Commander were destroyed trying to raise the siege.

Can I be so bold to suggest TG take a serious look at the Italian WW2 campaign and in particular the battle for Monte Cassino. They have previously produced some excellent FJ's and it would be amazing to see them produce a range for this period, including Allied troops, of which there are many!

The period of WW2 has largely been ignored by most TS manufacturers, which seems incredible when you consider what went on there.

Rather then do what every other TS company has done, maybe look at the areas that have been largely glossed over or ignored?

WW2 collectors are always looking for something different. K&C's resent Pacific releases is a prime example of what collectors are looking for.

I'm certainly not bagging other TS producers, just asking them to look further afield then D'Day & BOB.

To me Italy and the Balkans are an exciting subject yet to be investigated and produced.
