TG Sunderland (2 Viewers)

I'll post dimensions when I can find a bigger tape measure and some pics when I get a bigger camera. The cost commitment for one per year is the same as a packet of cigarettes each week...but it's much better for you and you know it {sm4}

Congrat's as well Bob, everyone should give up smoking and buy a Sunderland! ^&grin Mind you what's my excuse as I don't smoke, oh I forgot, I spend all my money on TS's and dioramas!!!

Tom

For those of us who live in the 21st century that is 81 cm and 104 cms respectively!

I am always mindful that Americans also live in the 21st Century and use strange thermometers and weird petrol drums... I do remember once driving around north Queensland with a 44 gallon drum of fuel in a time of shortage...and when you text them it's always yesterday. But it's fun trying to make allowances...viva la difference I say 😄.

What figures would you put with it?

Several dio options with RAF repaints. Rescuing a downed pilot in a raft. Waiting on plans for a raft. Nuts (Martin's bird) survived a massive JU88 fight and after downing 3, it was forced to make a landing and the crew came ashore assisted by local villagers...some interesting possibilities...a village backdrop would be cool with some villagers in the middle ground. Mabel sank a couple of U-boats but was downed by JU88's and disappeared. Alongside a surrendering U-boat is another possibility. Lots of magic water is required, of course...^&confuse

Here is a raft if anyone has the set over there.

Are you going to weather yours up a bit Bob, say around the engine cowlings etc?

At this point I am happy just to gaze in awe Tom. I might think about that around order time on the next. Are you up for a share?{sm4}

On the next! How many Sunderlands are you buying???

Tom

Any pictures?

Sorry 'bout that. My good lady and I are both competing for use of the Apple Mac for independent research reports over the holiday, and I have some photos on my phone that I have not had a chance to load into photobucket. I've sent a few to Vicki by email and promise to post over the weekend. Vicki, who always considers everyone, has already commented about the anticipation on the forum - reminding me of the obligation 😱. I promise...just a little longer. If you PM your email, I'll send you a pic.

Hey Tom
The beauty of group buying for these big planes Is the cooperative arrangement - at some time in 2017, there will be a photo with both of the Sunderlands together in RAAF colours and It'll be unique. The next squadron could have three or four in it but it won't be Sunderlands :confused:. You just need to answer the question of what do you fancy? Anything is possible {sm4}

For me Bob it's always going to be a Sunderland if I were to have an aircraft. As for a cooperative arrangement, I wouldn't be part of one for several reasons, one being where I live (I would hardly see the bird and it's a long way and cost to bring one back and forth between Darwin and Brisi!) and second, I'm a bit greedy and would want the bird for myself!

The two together is going to look awesome and even more so in a dio setting of a harbour etc.

My apology Tom,
It is always a bird each. But you are correct, in that the advantage of the squadron thing would be difficult to realise at such distance. Are you coming for the March do?

If you cannot get to the computer are you really 'competing' for it?
