My apology Tom,
It is always a bird each. But you are correct, in that the advantage of the squadron thing would be difficult to realise at such distance. Are you coming for the March do?
Bob

No worries Bob and i'll use Andy's phrase about the Brisi do and say "never say never"..^&grin

Several dio options with RAF repaints. Rescuing a downed pilot in a raft. Waiting on plans for a raft. Nuts (Martin's bird) survived a massive JU88 fight and after downing 3, it was forced to make a landing and the crew came ashore assisted by local villagers...some interesting possibilities...a village backdrop would be cool with some villagers in the middle ground. Mabel sank a couple of U-boats but was downed by JU88's and disappeared. Alongside a surrendering U-boat is another possibility. Lots of magic water is required, of course...^&confuse

Sure you fellas have seen this, a Corgi favorite:

Perhaps, you could have one of your "flying porcupines" doing a rescue while the other flies CAP just above. That would allow you to limit the footprint of the display. In real life, flying boats practiced wide berthing on deck so as to avoid collision, powered or unpowered. As for the raft (or lifeboat), this would be a great opportunity for a manufacturer to garner some goodwill among the diorama team and other collectors by cooking one up for y'all. You listening, Vicki?;)

Hi Moe
Loved your idea when it was floated (ah the puns {sm4}) two weeks ago, as did Vicki, and Vicki is definitely listening. That cat is a great bird. Good work Corgi. That great minds think alike is reassuring. :salute::
Cheers, Bob

Awww, makes me regret selling off my collection of Corgi Diecast 1/72 Aircraft, the Catalina was one of their best.

Yeah, the good old Cat was a great bird and one to consider Bob. Darwin was a Catalina base during WW2 and there's still a few remains of them around Darwin Harbour and in the museums. Many were destroyed by the Japanese during the bombing of Darwin and unfortunately we don't have a restored version here.

11 Squadron RAAF Catalina at Doctor's Gully, Darwin in July 1945, about
to be placed in the water beside the RAAF Marine Section Jetty after a service.

Hi Tom, well mate the good news is that although it's not an original Aussie service aircraft, Felix the Black Cat can still be seen at many Aussie Airshows...very cool to see in person:

Here are a couple of quick snaps taken as I looked over the aircraft to make sure that she had indeed arrived safely. The packing was impressive and there was not a mark on it. It is larger than I had anticipated but it is an impressive model in every respect. The stand offers a very stable base and I look forward to seeing the dioramas that Bob has planned.

WOW - that's a very impressive model, I do hope they make a Lancaster. However I did note that model stands usually face the other way...all depends on the balance I guess.

I may have it on backwards!

Very impressive Marty and I bet you're glad you don't have kids! {eek3}^&grin
