Today I had the great pleasure of meeting Jack in our wonderful Capital City in the area of Covenant Garden. Actually we bumped into each other in Marks and Spencer where he advised me its no longer acceptable to go in there with a fork and taste all the cold Pasta's without actually paying for them!:wink2: We then retired to a local pub that goes by the name of the Nags Head and proceeded to knock back several Cokes whilst we talk of all things TS's. No my friends your eyes are not playing tricks on you I did indeed say Cokes, I am (incredible as this may sound) in training and have given up the booze as it plays havoc with my running . {eek3}:rolleyes2:

Jack very kindly brought with him from down under three superb Brit Para figures and also an excellent Afrika Corp Australian dinner figure, all of which have found a very welcome billet amongst my other troops.

Absolute pleasure to meet you today my friend and you continued the tradition that Sir Howard started in that all Australian collectors I have met in person are true gents.:salute::

Jack returns to these shores next year, heads up mate, I might be back on the VAT's by then:wink2:

Cheers

Rob

Are you sure Rob it was actually Jack you caught up with? from your description I have doubts; 'Gentlemen' doesn't sound right, was the individual you met wearing a brightly coloured velvet jacket? was he so tall that there was a cloud following him? coke a cola does I admit sound like him, the true give a way is - did he produce a carry bag with the logo of his local TS shop upon it? he is like a traveling garden gnome, keeps popping up all over the place, so it may well have been him.....:wink2:{sm3} As to your statement ''all Australian collectors I have meet are true gents''...wait until 2015 when I come over...{sm4}
p.s
Rum and coke please......
Wayne.

Yes, he is a gentleman alright Rob, that's why I look up to him, literally!!! ^&grin I agree with Wayne that Marty is so tall he has a cloud following him although I reckon sometimes he has his head in the clouds!!! {sm4}

OD, it did seem odd I must say getting on the tube and not feeling ' Tired and emotional ' after a few short ones!:wink2: But I have to be disciplined, trying to go for a 13 miler after G&T'S or VAT's the previous day is too much for me at my age!:rolleyes2:^&grin

If you are going to run, then perhaps its best you restrained a bit ... half a dozen shots should do fine :p

On the other hand ... if you downed a dozen, it won't matter if you crossed the finish line or not. :salute::

Even after a dozen shots of the good-stuff, Rob might find a strategically placed wheelbarrow nearby might be in order.....^&grin

Yes ... a pleasure to catch up and talk TS. The figures are indeed impressive. I dared not look at them closely or I would have bought them myself.

Unfortunately one of the traditions that Howard started and I followed was my slackness in the 'shout'. You bought first and we finished on an odd number! In Australia we would say you were just the victim of a 'Howard'.

And for my Aussie friends - yes ... I did wear my blue velvet jacket.

No problem there mate, I'm used to getting all the drinks in with our lot over here! I may well live to regret that:wink2:
When you return next year I may even shout you lunch, I'm sure this dieting and running thing will be over by then!.

Rob

were the figures free from Martyn or just a better price than what the UK have to pay?
Mitch

It's a kind of convoluted down payment/gift/bribe/incentive for a deal we have going on for next year in which I give Jack and possibly one or two others some tours of certain military museums over here, I'll probably tell him that the price has gone up terribly by next year and he will by then owe me a Tank:salute::.

The only thing I am prepared to provide for free is my opinion ... and some think that is even too much to charge!!
