The depth of field added by being inside the building is a very nice and different touch. As for the best JJD figure ever, my vote is for the Blacksmith!!! Wonderful presentation, Thanks for posting. With the mountains in the background, I think he is the Swiss Blacksmith.

Mike,

Just goes to show you don't needs 100's of figures to make a dio with impact.

Being a horse lover I think its just fantastic.

Regards
Mark

Ah............been playing with some moulds I see Mike. Well done mate. :salute:::salute::
Wayne.

Superb Michael :salute:::salute:::salute::

Cheers

Martyn:)

Yet another superb piece - that I so wish came as a casting for me to paint!! Unfortunately for me - JJ don't do unpainted castings.

I have a reason for wanting one - as my Great Grandfather was a Blacksmith in my home town of Cardiff, around the turn of the century - and I would love to get hold of one in unpainted form - to paint for myself.......................Drat!^&grin jb

Yes, very good. Did you make the buildings Michael?

no you don't need a lot of figures to tell a story...Joe Quintini and Randy taught me that

you might contact John...he may have an unpainted metal or resin one he would part with...

Outstanding, great detail. Chris

Chris...thank you...

Yes, very good. Did you make the buildings Michael?

Brad

Brad...thank you...no...I did not make these...but I'm going to try to make a similar one this week...these are JG Miniatures...they are actually 2 separate facades...

Mike, very well done, couple of quick questions, do the John Jenkins figures fit with WB? Would love to make an artillery scene with a blacksmith. Did the horse come with the set? Again, great job. Chris

Mike what did you use for the ground cover ??

Wayne...is plain old dirt from my backyard...I let it dry out...and grind it for a smaller scale in an old coffee grinder...

Chris...thank you...

yes the horse comes with the set...as does the anvil...wearing pants and an apron...he is versatile...he's pretty timeless to any era...

I personally don't think WB goes well with JJD...but I would be more comfortable with some other people weighing in...

I always though the WB sculpts were taller and thinner...lean...not as girthy as the JJD...

the painting styles are totally different to me also...

that's just my opinion...perhaps someone else will comment differently...

Re: The Blacksmith.

Having seen your workshop, I now see how the 2 JG sets fit together, rather neat how one fits within to make the backdrop thru the doorway. Well done Mike. Robin.

Great scene Mike!!! This is one of my all time favorite figures and you used him well in your dio.

Robin...thank you...I will take a picture of them separately so you can get a better view...

Mark...thank you...John made this figure for Ken Dunne (Fraxinus)...at least I think he did...it seems like it was well received...perhaps he will make an apprentice...a kneeling figure shoeing a horse would work for me...

here you go Robin...the exterior facade...
