The British Empire (1 Viewer)

Hi Konrad,

I know that it is not very long since you unveiled the results of your most recent collaboration with John, but I was just wondering if you have received anymore additions to your British Empire collection yet? Can't wait to see the next mounted example that you have commmissioned John to do, so is there any chance of an update soon or if not an estimated time of arrival of the next consignment perhaps!

Kind Regards

Martin

Hi Martin,
funny that you are asking today, because it was only yesterday that I received the message from John that a next package is on the way, so I most likely will receive it during the next week.
But here's the catch. When the package arrives it will stay closed until Christmas Eve.
I will open it then to see what has been done this time. It contains one mounted and two foot figures but I don't know which, since John has a good amount of castings in stock for my collection and we have an agreement that I don't get to know what he is painting next.
So, it will be Christmas Eve, Christmas Day when I can give an update here.
Thanks for your interest.
Konrad

hi Konrad,

Thank you for your very prompt up date. Your will power is obviously stronger than mine would be. How can you not open it before Christmas Eve knowing that there is another 3quality figures inside from John. Mind you having said that I have got a christmas parcel from John O'Brien in W. Australia that I know has got a mounted figure in it or I think it is a mounted figure and I am not going to open it until Christmas day morning!! So I suppose we are both in the same boat. Will have to wait until after Boxing Day to see your latest additions to the Empire collection as tradition dictates that the use of the PC is banned until at least until 27th and sometimes 28th, 29th in my household.

Have a good Christmas if I don't email you before the big day and I hope that you have plenty of parcels similar to John's to open on 24th/25th.

Regards

Martin

Konrad,

Thanks very much for sharing the very nice and unique figure of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry.

John did a great job painting it.

BMSS has some unique castings for sale, but some are no longer available.

Raymond.:)

You're most welcome, Raymond,
Now there are only three days left and I will be able to open the package that is currently sitting under my christmas tree and find out what figures are added to the collection this month.
I'll have the camera ready and will post photos probably on christmas eve :D
I know, some of the BMSS castings are not available anymore but sometimes there is a way ..... ;)
All the Best

Thank you, Victor,
I'm glad to see you like them.

It is my great pleasure tonight to show some photos from the latest additions to my "British Empire" collection. Two more foot figures came in and one more mounted.
The first foot figure shows an Officer, East Riding Of Yorkshire Yeomanry, 1910.
Here are a few pictures of this fine miniature.

And last but not least the mounted figure.
This is a figure that made my wishlist immediately when seeing it for the first time, more then a year ago, when John introduced himself to the forum and had a link to a website with his painted miniatures.
It is another casting from the BMSS and John Firth did an incredible job again to create this gem of a miniature.
Here the first 4 photos of Sir Pertab Singh, Commander of the Jodhpur Lancers in 1911.

Splendid, magnificent horse. The dappling in the coat is really nicely done.

Hi Konrad,

Magnificent and spellbinding are words that come to mind as I view the new additions to your collection! Like Spitfrnd, I am extremely impressed with the dappling John has painted on the horse. Rarely do you see such skilled glossy painting applied to a horse. John is truly a master of his art!

Congratulations for the new treasures you have acquired! And, thank you so much for sharing them with us!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Lovely stuff, especially the mounted figure is an absolute wonder! Thank you for the great photos and congrats!

hi Konrad,

Well the latest addition to your British Empire collection was worth waiting for. A truly magnificient example of the mounted figure. John has done a marvellous job of capturing the spirit of this individual's mount. That superior air that all horses with Arab blood is beautifully captured in this excellent example of a casting from the BMSS. I for one cannot wait to see what other mounted figures you have commissioned John to make for inclusion in this collection.

Happy New Year to you and your family and please keep us enthralled with the other additions to this particluar collection throughout 2010 as and when you receive them.

Regards

Martin

Thank you Martin,
glad to see that you enjoyed the new mounted figure.
You probably like that one of the next months additions will actually consist of two mounted figures and no foot figures :)
But that will be an exception. I do like the figures on foot just as much.
Konrad
