I think much needed reinforcements are on the way! BTW: I stumbled on the Canadian Toy Solider Club forum which had a lot of good information and discussion regarding JJ products. In particular, a good discussion of the possibility that sets like the BM-06 would be expanded from 250 to 500 sets due to the recent popularity of this line (not so thanks to those guys and JJ rethinking the issue). In my opinion, JJ has brought a lot of fun back to the hobby that was missing recently. Keep up the good work.

Hi Doug-

In my opinion, John took the good decision when he decided not to make 250 extra exampleries of the BM-06.

This set was sold and bought, at least by some collectors, on the basis of an edition limited to that number. It was, without any doubts, an argument that helped the sales.

For my part, I thank John.

Pierre.

I agree 100%. I have purchased the 250 limited sets first because of the concern that they would sell out. Its great that John listened and changed his mind. From what I read on the CTS forum, it appears that some members have curtailed their participation here due to recent discussions on the KC forum. Hopefully they will come back and at least continue to share info on JJ and other manufacturers.;)

Guys,

As I think everyone knows I am the leader of the unofficial JJ fan club on this forum.

If John was to add extra sets to any of his limited or sublimited or out of stock sets (do not know if there is such a word as sublimited, but you know what I mean 250 limited, 500 to 1000 sublimited) I for one who has a large collection of his figures, would be very unhappy.

I brought my sets knowing the numbers of each set. Some people have missed out on sets like the BM-01, 02 & 03. We have spoken about 250 sets for this type of figures being a little low (base line figures) were any collection would require multiples of BM-01 & 02.

John has tried to help with his next line, with sets sizes of 750. I have had to search the world over for the three sets of BM-01 & 02 I have and I paid twice the starting price. So no add ons thanks.

It is also similar to the QR-01 sets, 250 sets on the cards but only 135 in fact. I asked John a couple of weeks ago if he was going to remake the missing 115 sets and the answer was no, which is very good.

It looks like the BM-06 set is going the way of BM-01, 02 & 03 sets, going, going,..... Be quick and get a set if you have not got one yet.

BM-03 have gotten as hard as BM-01 & 02 to find now. I would think BM-04 & 05 are going to be the next to go, but there are still lots around and there are 500 sets of each of these which is better.

FM-01 to 04, John is out of stock, so get these if you still can, I see the web pages are emptying of them quickly. Before the new French sets come out next month, like Combat is hinting at. (Little bird talking to you Combat). :D

But it has to be the best bet of the year. French Regimental figures similar in type to the QB sets but in different poses, maybe firing? This is only my guess as John has not hinted at what is next, as he needs to tell dealers first. He has the next set already and was boxing them up last week when I spoke to him. He was hoping to have some photo's out this week.

We can only wait with open cheque books.

I can't wait to see photos of the new sets. I picked up BM-06 today when it became apparent that JJ was not producing anymore. Interestingly he apparently had announced on his website that he would be adding another 250 sets, but then reconsidered after reading the comments on CTS. My poor French guys are heavily outnumbered - so let's hope help is on the way. The Indians look nervous and ready to change sides. On the numbers issue, I think the 500-750 range is about right.

Combat--I saw some JJ sets at Tarbox when I was in Gettysburg lasy week. I think one was a BM02. I was able to get 3 RR sets (4,5,6) at Stan Clarks. It was like a wonderland in there. Thanks for the tips.

Was there a vote? ;)

I dont know - 250 Sets make them very collectable and a great investment - its like a mini limited edition on each release. Sure makes you scramble for them.

I will reflect what everyone else on this thread is saying.

I do not wish JJ to produce additional figures for those already released and retired sets. They were sold as limited to 250 sets and John should honor that. I completely understand his willingness to try to please everyone, but that's darn near impossible. Perhaps an alternative to the kneeling and standing firing sets would be to do the same unit with different poses. Perhaps kneeling and standing loading or kneeling and standing at the ready.

If I recall correctly, there was a "firestorm" when this same issue was discussed vis a vis the second King Tiger and Char B in late 2005.

Was there a vote?
Ron,

If you are talking about a vote for the leader of the unofficial JJ fan club, yes there was a vote. I voted three times and it was a close run thing I only won by one vote, I could not make up my mind on who to vote for, me. me or me. The voting must of happen when you were away. :p :D

And as for you Sceic2, everyone on this side of the ocean knows gods an Aussie. About time you guys realized it and showed your leader some respect. :D Another new set of firing figures is an idea, but if it was me I would still want sets of the BM-01 & 02. Michael had any luck finding any more old JJ Frontline sets, I have had no luck on the ones you were looking for. The guy with the full sets has gone to ground on me, but I hope to flush him out next week.

On the subject of 250 sets as a number for set sizes. I to agree 250 sets is a great number. The problems is when I buy 200 sets it only leaves 50 sets for you guys. :p

Yes, I have been very fortunate. The only set I am missing is the hardest to find, the RR.01 Major Rogers. Between Stan Clark in PA, Darrel Billings in TX, Wendi Schaffer in IN, and Joaquin in Canada I have all the others. You might call Billings 806.562.4147 he may have one or two sets left. That darn RR.01 is very hard to find.

If anyone has a spare Frontline John Jenkins Collection RR.01 Major Rogers they are willing to part with please email at michael@hometownsolutions.net or PM through the forum.

Since Michael brought it up here.....

I am still trying to get my hands on an extra BM-01 - anyone has one they are will ing to part with for $$$$ - please let me know by PM.

Thanks. :)

On the new sets coming up - they really look great and I look forward to their release. I am also very interested in a Virginia Regt. Artillery Set - WOW - that going to be cool

I wonder how many people are really picking up on these figures outside us Treefroggers - anyone knows?

Ron

I think 250 is ok for the personality figures that will go one each to collectors. JJ probably wants to make some money though so I would expect to see even those in the 500-750 range going forward. The regular army guys that can be used in multiples probably are ok at 500-750. Not sure why JJ is all over the map with production numbers. The 1000 sets seem too high for the Indians - can't imagine they are more popular than the Brits or French that are limited to 250-750.

in the actual battle, the indians outnumbered their french allies almost 3 to 1, and since john is a stickler for authenticity, well.................

Combat,

What do you mean make money. He does it at cost and for the love it and for his buyers/collectors. Next you will suggest he put up his price. :D

Now on the real side, I find it hard to believe that he makes any money on 250 to 500 set releases. If the retail price is $69 US for three figures (he is not getting that), $23 US a figure. Most of the single K&C figures are $23 to $25 and Andy makes as many as he likes. Even the 3 or 4 figure sets from K&C are $20 to $23 a figure.

To have them cast, painted, boxed with cards and shipped, let alone him designing them. He has them made and painted in China I believe, but even if thats the case, for figures of this quality the costs must kill him for a limited run of 250 to 500 sets.

If he make $5 a figure I would be surprised.

But then again he is doing something we all love and if he can make a living out of it, he has the toy soldier collectors dream.

Aussie Monty :)

Aussie-
It occurs to me that I don't actually know much about John. Anyone have some background on him? Just curious how he got started, why the French-Indian war etc.
