The Glory of England (1 Viewer)

I dropped into the toy soldier shop at the Guards Museum before leaving London. It was an interesting experience as it was only the second ‘bricks and mortar’ dealer I have visited. The proprietor was a very pleasant chap who had just given up smoking and was diverting the money to some of the FL Agincourt range.

Nice pic's Marty and hmmm, lot's of glossy's, you must be thinking you are in heaven!

Yes ... it was very nice although the proprietor did not make derogatory comments about my jacket so I did not quite feel at home. I am heading off soon for an evening cruise on the Bosporus. Tomorrow it is off to Venice and a week long cruise. I am sure you are having fun in Darwin as well ... {sm4}{sm4}

Just happened across this thread. Those pictures seem to be more about the Glory of Rome?

If you provided your movements to the Brisbane shopkeeper, im sure he would have sent an email to the proprietor telling him about you and that famous jacket! {sm4} Yes, im having fun sweating in 94% humidity and +35 degree heat (Not). Have fun in Venice and make sure you tip the gondolier driver well otherwise you might end up in the drink!

If you ever do live there - you will find it tiresome fighting your way into a town literally full of tourists every day. It's okay for a while - but when it happens EVERY day - you will get fed up with it. It used to be just in summer - but when we eventually left - it was 12 months per year. jb

According to Wikipedia Knightsbridge is a road which gives its name to an exclusive district in central London. The road runs along the south side of Hyde Park, west from Hyde Park Corner, spanning the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Up to Brompton Road, it is a part of the A4 arterial road, while the remainder is part of the A315 road.

The eponymous district comprises the area south of Hyde Park, east of Exhibition Road and west of Sloane Street. Brompton Road, Beauchamp Place and the western section of Pont Street serve roughly as its southern border together with their adjacent gardens and squares such as Ovington Square, Lennox Gardens and Cadogan Square. South of this area, the district fades into Chelsea while Belgravia lies to the East and South Kensington to the West.

Knightsbridge is notable as an ultra-expensive residential area, and for the density of its upmarket retail outlets. It is identified in the London Plan as one of two "international centres" in London, alongside the West End.

It must have been a living hell to exist in this area!!{sm4}{sm4} (Cannot find a 'friendly Aussie sarcasm' icon!)
