The Magic of Barneywomble: Australian Light Horse Dio (1 Viewer)

Interesting that you should mention the Wadi. Only a few days ago I made the observation to one of the guys that I had tended to place more value on the other end of the diorama because I felt the real highlight was the horses crashing against the Turkish line. It was some time before I really looked at the other end and saw that it was an equally strong part of the diorama - in fact almost a diorama in itself. The same narrow focus blighted my view of the trench attack diorama. I tended to concentrate on the charge yet the 'behind the lines' section, and the wonderful German strongpoint, are an equally strong part of the overall narrative. I cannot wait to have the second photographed - none of the images so far really do it justice.

As for pressuring Andy - how does a teacher/lecturer/librarian put pressure on a royal marine ... and a Scottish one to boot?

I have to say that Jack has studied both dios from every possible angle, he has worn a track in the carpet around both ^&grin. When Andy visits this year he will no doubt get a hear bashing about the need for more Great War everything..:wink2:

I would like to see Allenby & Chauvel positioned with the 3 figures that are next to the Wadi. This would be the command post for the charge. With 2 releases a year for the ALH and Andy's determination to satisfy his Australian customers, I think there is every chance we will see a medic wagon. I would love to get some mounted Turks and a Turk with a range finder next to the gun. Also a Australian with a radio set. Yours is a wonderful display and a credit to everyone involved including of course Andy & Gordon. :salute::, Robin.

Yes, working on both dios has highlighted the need for more diorama suited figures and etc, I know that the main collecting habits of most is for action type items and I am not suggesting that this should make way for 'behind the lines' items, just more added please :wink2: A wagons of all types would added much more to the light horse dio as well as the Western Front dio. All the makers must get headaches trying to cater for all our wants.

Fantastic set, great movement being captured by the way the terrain was built by the team and their precise setting of the vegetation, rocks and armies....provides a great way of showing how fast the horses were galloping towards the guns and the garrison desperate action in trying to load and fire as fast as possible...
Cheers

Wonderful diorama! Great display of action, the sand texture and tone real add to your dio. I am so glad I decided collect this series and your dio is an inspiration to put mine together. I too would also like to see a Turkish range finder, more medic personnel and maybe surrendering Turks. Again to all of you thanks for putting this together and the pics.

More impressed with the photography work as I do not have these figures in my collection, well I do, but they do not look the one's in these photos. Robin.
