This fella arrived this morning all neatly packaged up in a box from WB. A very nicely posed dismounted Union horse-soldier officer, superb equipment detail especially his saber and a pleasing paint job. All round a fine looking figure that will fit in well with WB's forthcoming dismounted cavalry sets. I'm very pleased and consider him just on his own well worth the club subscription let alone all the literature we receive throughout the year.

Very very nice looking Bob. Thanks for posting photos of this figure. This officer was my selection also for my club membership renewal. Now that I know you have received yours I am very hopeful that mine will arrive in the near future. To go along with this figure, I have also pre-ordered several of the soon to be released dismounted cavalry figures that are new for WB this year. These altogether will make some nice vignettes - Buford against Heth, Buford supported by Reynolds, Archer's Brigade vs. Iron Brigade - its going to be a great WB ACW year :D

Bob etal: With the upcoming release of the six dismounted Union cavalrymen along with General Buford this summer it was obvious that the squad could use a little more leadership besides Buford. Once again Richard and Ken give us logical and realistic figures that can be spliced into clever and historical vignettes to recreate the conflict in miniature. Bob: A quick tease was in order and I suspect once your six dismounted arrive with Buford you will pull this officer out along with last years hatless dismounted figure firing his Sharps behind his wounded horse to give a solid interpretation of the 8th Illinois Cavalry delaying Heth's Corp from seizing the high ground along the Cashtown Road into Gettysburg. Lets wait for this fall when Bob unveils his rendition of that action. All the best.

How do you plan on using him?

Well Brad without putting too finer point on it you appear to have missed my attempt at subtleness of adding the K&C Real West wounded nag (minus the arrow) into the scene.

This is going to sound a little maudlin but the Yankee officer's pose with colt drawn, the sad expression on his face and adding a title of "Goodbye old friend" you may start to get the gist of being cruel to be kind;)

Has anyone in the US received this figure yet ? I figured that if it had already made it's way to the UK, US club members should have been receiving them by now. I have not.

I was wondering the same. I haven't received my figure yet. Any news on what the shipping schedule looks like for the US?

Simple, elegant and an effective scene. Well done.

Hi Guys:

The UK got the jump on us! The US club member figures will be going out with the Standard in about two weeks. Various postal prices and laws make it better for the UK to ship the figure separately whereas it makes more sense to send with the Standard in the US.

Ken did a great job on this figure and as it was down to the wire I had the further pleasure of painting the master myself. Keeps me honest!

Thanks guys for the good feedback,

Richard

I received mine today too. And there's a new limited edition Iron Brigade flag bearer shown in the Standard. Very nice.

Still waiting for my parcel but this sounds very cool about the Iron Bde figure in the standard. What's he like? Standing, running, what sort of flag, etc....?
