The New CC figure-ACW Yankee Cavalry Officer (1 Viewer)

Still waiting for my parcel but this sounds very cool about the Iron Bde figure in the standard. What's he like? Standing, running, what sort of flag, etc....?

Wm Britain CC #50021C ACW Union Iron Brigade Flagbearer at Rest is an updated version of #17928 and #31040 - All three are very similar in pose, however heads/hats are different.
:) Mike

Thanks Mike, and so he is holding onto a U.S. flag like the other versions too?

I've just checked my email and found a UPS tracking message for delivery on June 1st. :)

YES

Here are some photos of my CC Dismounted Cavalry figure. Its a very nicely sculpted and painted figure. Looking at his shoulder boards with a magnifting glass it appears that this little guy is a 1st LT.

An officer from the 8th Illinois Cavalry of Colonel Gamble's Brigade, looks on as elements of the Iron Brigade rush past hiim and towards McPhearson's ridge

The figure is standing, with somewhat of a relaxed pose. The pole for the US flag is resting on the ground, and leaning onto his right shoulder. The figure would look good behind a firing line. Uniform is frock coat, Hardee hat and white gaiters. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the additional info. As Mike described it earlier, it sounds like a modified version of the 2 prior incarnations of this item (17928 and 31040). Should have my standard on Tuesday from the sounds of it.

Nice pics by the way Mike. :)

Dave: You have to admit that Ken really does craft some nice figures. Fact of the matter is Federal Cavalry is always a challenge. They were the most well equipped yet underachieving branch in the Civil War. Ask yourself why they could not get their act together until they finally decided to fight at Kelly's Ford in spring 1863 (they outnumbered the Reb's 3 to 1 that day). The Union mounted troopers finally showed some guts at Brandy Station in June 1863 courtesy of JEB Stuart allowing his best four regiments the 1st through 4th Virginia Cavalry commanded by Col. Thomas Munford to "dilly dally" that day according to expert historian Eric Wittenberg and thus the Feds retired with a break even day. George Custer brought the Federal Cavalry into vogue day 3 at Gettysburg using his Michigan brigade 1st,5th,6th and 7th Michigan Cavalry's by charging and counterattacking at East Cavalry Field. After that Phil Sheridan routinely got his face punched in as a swaggering fool witness his incompetence at Haw's Shop and Trevilian Station. Point is I hate to see the Feds depicted too fiercely. They were led by some great commanders but all too often they would either break even or fritter away the initiative. But I still devour ACW Cavalry. Good stuff and fun to interpret and recreate.

My little bugler arrived today with the magazine. Nice figure and also really like the looks of this new Iron Bde collectors club figure. He will be hard to pass on I think, though he is going to have to fight it out with my flag waving Colonel if he is going to stand with the regiment on my shelves.

Got my club figures today, bugle boy and dismounted Calvary officer. Bot are very nice!

Where did you get him??

This fella arrived this morning all neatly packaged up in a box from WB. A very nicely posed dismounted Union horse-soldier officer, superb equipment detail especially his saber and a pleasing paint job. All round a fine looking figure that will fit in well with WB's forthcoming dismounted cavalry sets. I'm very pleased and consider him just on his own well worth the club subscription let alone all the literature we receive throughout the year.
