Glad you like the photos Martyn. Now returning to the Sudan once again. A Highlander was made an easy target as he left his tent by an Afghan rifelman and hearing the shot a mate searches for his where abouts as two Highlanders have spotted him with one about to let off a shot while the other enters a round in his chamber......The Lt.

Great subject and concept, and the figure is fantastic-but the sculpt/pose...well you couldn't carry someone very far like that- and a wounded guy would crap out on you trying to stay on....
anyone else notice the variation on the "piggyback"?
Grant
If he had a gut wound...you would'nt carry him ..in a Fireman lift....to piggy back someone..they need to be conscious so they can hang on......the carrier should be bent forward more..I agree....he is holding the wounded soldier on his back by means of the soldiers arms.....believe you me...that is a more comfortable way of being carried than slung over a shoulder like a bag of wheat...merely an observation.........TomB

" When you're wounded and lying on Afghanistan plains
and the women come out to cut up what remains
jest roll to your rifle and blow out yer brains
and go to yer Gawd like a Soldier"

Only Kipling I could recall.

Using the photo backdrop of the Narrow Valley Pass in Alabama Hills that double for The Kyper Pass when fliming the Movie Gunga Din. The photo dio tells a tale on it's own in color.............The Lt.
