the "ONE" K&C set you are missing?? (1 Viewer)

I personally want to find a Silk Road Elephant. That is my holy grail, I have never been able to obtain.

I did find an original 88 - the Summer One, that along with DD35, WS41 were the holy grails, now found!

I also recently picked up the original IWJ 11 (Iwo Sherman) and it was the original olive color with the medal Mint in Box, I almost cried when it was delivered!!

I still need an FJ01 Schwim, but it is not as important as it once was.

Guess I have more than 1 or 2 holy grails!

TD

I should say I sold 2 Holy Grails too - Drum horse and Mussolini Staff Car

SR 01 from a very short lived K&C Silk Road Series. All pieces are tough to find, I only have a few. The Elephant is the one I really want!

Tom

This is indeed a beauty.

Tom
What does it sell for? I have never seen any of the silk road items.

Andy

No idea Terry. Maybe Tom knows. I don't recall seeing them on ebay but then I don't collect them.

as for cost......who knows, never have seen one for sale. I am sure it ranges from 300 to 1500 depending on who's selling! Original retail was 255, a bargain. The other pieces go for cheap to expensive, again, all depends on who is buying. I bought the SR02 Manchu Officer for $20, the pack mule set for $50.

As for my latest find, I got the original CA (Chinese Army) rendition of Emperor QIA for $41, not bad!

Tom

there are only certain pieces I will break the bank for, these are not one of them, I figure patience will pay off!

I looked up the original prices. The Pack Handler with Camel was $51 - the Elephant original price was 5 times as much. I guess patience is the word. :)

Terry,
Patience is key, b/c I only told you the bargains I got, notice I left the price off a few other of my holy grails!!!!!!!

although, funny thing is, with the price of some new sets, some of the oldies are real bargains.

I am still trying to pick up On the Beach Set A. I have just missed getting it on Ebay a couple of times.

Great thread. The last year or so most of my collecting has been attaining some older/retired pieces ( fewer purchases but at higher costs! ). I would probably say the few pieces out there I still want are frequently available in the secondary market but at such lofty prices I haven't bitten yet. In no particular order I like K&C's WS 41 Pz II, WS 55-56-57 88 plus crew, WS 37 Krupp truck, GC 01-07 German cavalry, WS 30 Casualties of War, WS 28 German POW's, WS 032 8 Wheeled German Armoured Car, and....and....and....and that's not even the WWII Allies or other era's like the Napoleonic!!!!! Ohhhhhhhhhh what's a collector to do???:eek::D

Cyber, your list of wants is like mine, the normandy 88 with crew, puma, krupp, pows, maybe by this time next year our list will be much smaller...Sammy

Cheers Forum Squadron Members:

I finally landed my primary 'Missing" set...KING & COUNTRY DD035 M16 Quad 50 Halftrack. She was "boxless" though but thanks to "one of our own" I will have a complete set and absolutely love it. There is another "lost" set though. I really liked the K&C Warbird Workshop Hawker Typhoon. Perhaps there will be another variant released some day hopefully in polystone to boot. One more I am hunting for...the Adolf Galland figure from the polystone Me-109. This is the only figure I have ever lost as "Dolfo" must have bailed out during a move.

Love This Stuff More Than Ever,
Marc

my holy grail would be the arnhem recce jeep, the iwo sherman and the ju-52. i was lucky enought to start early in collecting my kc although my budget was small. i used to save my money until the chicago show.

I almost forgot my club figure holy grail: CF 01 (French Foreign Legionnaire Indochina 1954)

Still hunting for Wood/Resin Vehicle: Prime Mover & 88mm, Glossy: Mounted Ludhianna Sihk, Matte: Afrika Korp MP set, Polystone Vehicle: Winter Sherman (Repainted - IWJ-11), Wooden Warbird: Huey, Me-262, F/A-18. Well, with all those planes, I would need the RAF fuel bowser truck and....... guess I have gone over the limit - it never ends does it?:D
