The Road To Destruction...

The early British failures in North America were both costly and numerous...but British forces adapted as the war progressed, lessons learned from early defeats lead to reforms in traditional British warfare strategies...superior organization and guerilla strategies allowed France and its Indian allies to dominate the first two years of the war...Britain's increased financial commitment to the war, gave British soldiers and their American colonial allies the resources they needed to defeat the French...

Steve

Excellent work Mike!! I love your use of the figures and how you positioned them.

It looks like the men marching are about to run into something. Is there going to be a sequeal??

Mark

Mike,

Simply wonderful composition with what is still a terrific set, 44th regular marching. Bravo!!! I could be wrong about this, but I think Braddock intentionally crossed the Monongahela twice on the day of the battle just to go around a bottleneck and potential ambush site similar to what you are depicting here.

Wonderful use of the Daniel Boone figure, think I will "steal" that idea.

And of course, we really do need a Combat's George Washington figure in the long red coat.

And a new 44th regular officer would be a nice addition as well. There were no new officers with the supplemental BM20-BM-26 releases.

The photos are showing a very nice focus depth --- good work!!!

Hey Mike ... you did it again, a wonderful use of JJD sets and terrain material. Of all the dios, the marching sets continually make superior scenes. You got great use out of that Rocky Pass.
Love it!! -- Larry

Dear Mike,

Great pictures Michael {bravo}}....I do hope this is the start of a series:salute::

Cheers

Martyn:)

Besides being at Monongahela, the 44th was at Ticonderoga in 1758.

The 44th was the main force at Fort William Henry during the large winter raid by the French in March 1757. At least 2 companies of 44th were still at Fort William Henry at least through late April, if not longer. Even a company of the Fraser's Highlanders (our QHL releases) showed up in April at Fort William Henry for garrison duty.

As such, people are free to mix series much more widely than we typically show on the forum. For example. Mike could remove the young Virginia officer and the drummer and substitute in various rangers and tag the photo New York, 1757 or 1758.

I missed this series of photos Michael . . . . very glad I found them . . . . very enjoyable as all of your presentations are . . . .
:smile2: Mike
