Hi
Thats what I though, they would be gloss. So they must be a repaint and a poor one at that?I would like to make sure if possible.
Cheers

Hi Dave. Just in case you don't know - Yeomanary Miniatures makes castings of a Marching RSDG band (1971-1996) - in a 20 piece set in Review Order with helmet - or available as singles for a band of any size really. Has Bandmaster,Bass/Side drums, Cymbals, French Horn, Sax, Picallo, Clarinet, Tuba, Euphonium, Cornet and Trombone as instruments.

Yeomanary also do The RSDG Pipes and Drums as a 16 piece marching set - again in Review Order with Bearskins and Highland Bonnets - with Drum Major, Pipers, Side and Bass Drums. Again - you can buy singly to make the band any size you like.

I can vouch for the quality of the castings - and they will paint up beautifully in Gloss or matte.

Brian Harrison is the owner - and is a member on here - as Yeoman. He can send you a catalogue - if you PM him.

Just in case you didn't know. All the best - johnnybach

Hi Dave - sounds good. I'm not sure whether Brian does a Colour Party (yet) - but if you really want one - he could probably make up the parts to convert from his existing range. He's a keen enthusiast too - and also an excellent painter!

I've made up a few of his products - and they are superb - as they are sculpted by Alan Caton. Mention in your e-mail for the catalogue - that you would like a Colour Party too - and see what he can come up with. Good Luck - and happy sailing! jb:D

I just bought the Mounted officer (48013) so I guess I'm looking to collect the rest of the series. They're all still readily available even though their a year or two old already. I't's good for me because they'll be easy to get ^&grin, but sad overall because it shows that there're not very popular with collectors in general. :(

I get melancholy when I look through the older ( around 2000) Britains catalogs an see mostly glossy figures and their in the front of a catalog. Now their about a quarter to a third of the catalog and have taken a back seat to the matte series. The times they are a changing. On the bright side, it did help me to cut back on my purchases. :rolleyes2:

Here's another pic I found recently - from an unlikely source - and old record album on e-bay. Might help with some painting detail for someone - so thought I would share it. jb:)

Another band that's gone!

Gone - but not forgotten Tabs. That's one of the nice things about this hobby - we can keep their memory alive by making them up - as long as you sculptors keep knocking them out - and painters keep doing their thing. :D Cheers - jb.

High all,
I'm a new member to this forum so my contribution may come too late.
I now have bought via eBay two tenor drums to complete the pipes&drums of the RSDG. Giles Brown of Dorset Soldiers is going to convert two side drummers into tenor drummers for me. Since 1980 he converts W Britain soldiers for me in any regiment I want. I also have a standard party of this famous regiment, done by Anne Rendall of ASSET. They fit wonderfully well with the W Britain conversions done by Giles of the escort of the RSDG (Number 1 dress and with SA80 with bajonet). For the conversions of the escort I have send him Cheshire soldiers.

Although the quality of the photo is not perfect, it will give you an idea how ASSET and W Britain figures fit well together.

This photo depicts the regimental band of the RSDG including the pipes and drums. As you can see the tenor drummers and some pipers are still missing. Together with the tenor drummers pipers will be converted from pipers of the Scots Guards who have the same tartan. With a repainted plume on the feather bonnet and some other minor changes a Scots Guard piper can easily been changed into a piper of the RSDG. All figures are from W Britain; set 5290 with pipes&drums RSDG and set 00102 regimental band RSDG.

To complete my contribution on this subject a photo of the mounted band of the RSDG. The trumpeters and the kettle drummer are from W Britain set 5290. The director of music and the musicians are from Bob Prati of RP World Models, who is currently making conversions for me as well.

Very nice band Peter! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
