Before I get carried away with some photos of my wife’s SOHK collection, I would like to publicly thank Harry and Lucy for procuring the mini screens and vases in China and Harry’s daughter for bringing them back to the UK for us. Cheers H.

They have magnificent artwork and as Harry has shown us in many of his pictures they make superb backdrops to a figure collection.

Och, I'm all embarrassed Jeff.:eek::eek: Glad it all worked out. At one stage it was as bad as planning Operation Overlord.
Nice displays - very, very, nice displays in fact. We'll convert people to these ranges yet.....:):);)

Hi Jeff,
Is that some feng Shui figures on the right hand side of your display cabinet? Nice, or what?

Cheers

Harry,

No idea I'm afraid  My wife bought them at a boot fair for 50p each.

Jeff

Well, I'll tell you what. They were a real bargain. Nice accessories, far below the price I can get them for. I might be visiting the UK in August. If so, I'll be raking around looking for something similar. :) It's amazing what you can find in boot fairs, jumble sales, and so on.

Cheers

I thought that as it’s been a bit quiet on this thread for a while I would post some photos of our latest acquisition the 'Dai Pai Dong' set.

The attention to detail is quite phenomenal…..take a look at the contents of the wok!…..”more please” ..... I don’t think so.

It's a brilliant set isn't it Jeff? But where's the stove that's supposed to be keeping the wok hot?

Have been too busy, what with moving apartments and so on to take any new photos. Shall rectify that situation on my return to Dalian around the end of July (hopefully).

Cheers

I don't own any of those pieces, but I have always found the SOHK series to be exceptional, in the choice of subjects, and in the quality of the painting. I think these latest pictures you've posted really illustrate that.

Maybe someone should do a similar series based on late medieval or Renaissance Europe. How 'bout "The Streets of Bruges" or The Streets of Milan"?

Prosit!
Bradley

Hi Harry,

Are you saying that the set has a stove or the set should have a stove?

Jeff

Jeff,
I've just checked my set. A stove (or fire-pot) is included in the set. It goes inside the cooking table under the wok. Sorry I can't post a photo, my camera is packed away.

Cheers

Jeff,
I went and dug out my camera. Sorry for the terrible quality - it's Dark O'Clock here in Dalian (23:10PM).
The snaps ought to be self-explanatory in showing where the stove/cooker ought to be though.

Hope this helps.

Thanks both of you.........ours is absent without leave :(

Jeff

Hope you find it Jeff.
I reckon the one in the TF picture is upsidedown. Going by what I've seen of Chinese cooking facilities, the table ought to have a hole in it that the wok sits in and so is kept in contact with the top part of the stove/cooker/fire-pot thus keeping the delicious contents hot. Bit like a Korean Barbeque Table. This is what comes of being involved in Engineering since I was 15 - and nothing to do with my non-existent culinary skills....:eek:

Cheers
H
