The Station. (1 Viewer)

Station is now 90% complete painting wise with doors, windows to paint & downpipes to add. The balcony and platform floors I will glue down with model railway ballast, I designed them in a way that figures will stand on them and a loose second layer of ballast will then cover any bases.

Outstanding work Wayne and the colours you chose look great for the period but do you use washes as this will give a good weather affect . Chris.

It has been 'Washed' but as it's suppose to be the Beersheba station in 1917, which was built and opened in 1915, it would've looked fairly new, well that's my excuse anyway..........:[/I]:rolleyes2:

On a rare day off I found a pair of portable saw horses which are perfect for the 6'x4' base, kindly donated by Matt (Norman 508a), and mocked up how I think it should be. Picture it terraformed as Beersheba 1917 with ALH. Much still to do....................

Hi Guys,
Something totally unrelated to the station but interesting......
At one of Wayne´s pictures on the far wall you see a World Atlas......Just by seeing the Map on the wall you would figure that it´s owner would have to live in Australia....{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}
If you pay close attention you will see that Australia is on the middle of the map and not to the far right bottom side of the map as we are used to see it.....:cool::cool: Hence giving the traditional " down under " looks....
Great Regionalization and change to the point of reference depending on where you are ......
Would love to see what a map looks like in Finland kkkkkkk
Cheers

Australia is where it should be in the centre of the world...^&grin But honestly it is just a garden variety wall map at it would be in the same position weather it was on a wall in Finland as well.

Luiz,

if you check the map you will also see that Brazil and Australia are about the same size, and 'on top' of the other minor countries below them :)

Southern Hemisphere wins :)

Yes, it's interesting to compare the corrected sizes for the land closer to the North Pole. For example Alaska and Greenland are much smaller than most people think and Africa is by far the largest, roughly equivalent to China, USA and Australia added together.

Terrific work on the Station, I look forward to seeing the completed display.

Hi John and Matt/Wayne,
This is amazing....how " some of us " have been taught at school with maps set one way while others a different way.....it is all based on the perspective of who is where...and the issue of sizes is also vey interesting and just recent did I read an article that you both make reference to....When at school Greenland used to be so big and after all it is not so.....same applies to other countries up North that on the traditional maps seem so much bigger than they really are...:salute:::salute::
Not to mention seeing the Map upside down....{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}...just this notion can lead us to a brand new conclusion as ...why not? Why should we always see it North to South and not South to North....
Well soldier collecting is not just history, but Geopolitics also...
Cheers
