The Walking Dead, season 3 and Comicbook Men........ (3 Viewers)

The word is that she reacted that way because she did put them in that situation. Plus it looked like Shane had enough - classic death by cop. None of these people are likable. That's way it great to see whos on the menu each week. I wanted the little girl to munch on that enjoying kid when she came out of the barn.

That is a big issue for me too. Wasn't it Lori herself that told Rick just a couple episodes earlier that Shane was dangerous? Now, she is angry that he is dead?!? I don't get it either and I'm not sure why the writers would create such a situation.

I hate it when little things like that muddy-up an otherwise great show......

In the book, Shane lasted all of 3 pages of the first issue ( going from memory ), so he at least got more face time in the TV series..Again the book is about nonstop emotional conflict between the unaffected more so than being only a Zombie whacking free for all. Remember the Lori being pregnant and who's the father sub plot still going on...In the book, it is the boy who actually kills Shane ( NOT ZOMBIE ) as he attacks the dad. It becomes the secret that binds as well as curses the 2. I was enjoying Shane the hard ***, in the series, but knew his time was limited as might Lori's ( whoops! :redface2:), so I did not get emotionally attached to him. Michael

I hope they keep Hershel. He's a great "patriarch" now that Dale is gone. From what I know is coming it's going to be good.

Awaking the thread now that Season 3 is underway. Episode 1 was a real rip-snorter. The ending, as usual, is going to open up all sorts of crisis. Won't give anything away but it is an action packed episode. -- Al

Lots of action in the first episode. Nice to see that wimpy kid toughen up. His mom is annoying too. The super ninja woman is cliche, but I suppose you have to have one of those in a zombie series. Overall good stuff. Looking forward to American Horror Story later this week.

The second ninja gal is a long running character in the books and was widely anticipated by the original walk/dead fans. Michael

I stayed away from the books to avoid spoiling the series. The characters on the show thus far seem like they could be normal people. Now they spring a ninja women on the scene who has somehow survived on her own while the main characters are lucky to make it from day to day. It has that jump the shark feeling when it isn't necessary. But I realize they are likely stuck with it.

A lot of action in this episode, but several aspects of the prison scenes make little sense to me.

Explain how a zombie locked in a prison cell with no "food" can survive, or for that matter how the rest of them locked in the prison can; only explanation I can come up with is in the corridor scene, a lot of the dead zombies looked like fresh kills, so are they turning on each other now?

No spoilers regarding characters, but if the person who got bit last night dies, that leaves three characters I am hoping somehow survive this, there are several who if they went bye bye would not upset me.

Liked the ending and the scenes from the upcoming season, looks like more survivors are out there than I thought, which adds fresh characters to the series, I wonder how much longer this can go on as a series; the ratings for the first episode were off the charts, highest ever for a basic cable show.......I was hoping this series would be good and it's been that and then some..........

I never fully understood zombie lore. They are dead to begin with so why do they need to eat? Can they starve to death if they are dead? If they do need to eat, why don't they eat each other since they would be much easier to catch than the living people? Maybe that's giving it too much thought.:wink2: These characters started to annoy me at the end of last season - particularly the wife and kid. But they came around a bit in the first episode.

My gut feeling is that in order to avoid the engagement of Article 3 of the Undead Rights Act, zombie prison guards are still under a moral and legal obligation to provide three meals a day to zombie prisoners.

Awaiting series 3 over this side of the water with baited breath.

How do disemboweled zombies survive ! I don't think zombies really need food to survive. They just like the taste.

Leave it to a civil servant to quote some obscure regulation.:rolleyes2:

I thought this thread smelled like worms.:wink2:

I enjoyed the season opener, would be great if the baby as mentioned was a zombie and ate her while still in the womb and then went after it's brother. ^&grin^&grin^&grin

I don't get the zombies on chains..what is to stop them rushing at Michonne and why don't they?

I'd love to see that, taking out the two most annoying characters in the process.

The zombies carry her gear, plus she cut their arms off and their lower jaws, so they can't bite as a result.

They are her brother and ex boyfriend from what I've heard.

Well after seeing the surviving prisoners at the end of episode one, tonight played out pretty much like I thought it would.

Guess there won't be a "Let's all band together as we find survivors and fight the zombies together" angle with this series, pretty much "We'll stay here, you stay over there or else we'll kill you" like it's been for the most part since day one.........................

Looks like next week they will be bringing in a whole new crew with the super ninja woman. Not sure if that is good or bad. I'm not sure why they spent so much time with those prisoners last night only to kill most of them off. An average episode at best. At least that wimpy kid is coming around.

Agreed; they should have just left those guys alone, three of them died for nothing, don't see how those other two are any better off now than before.

And who was in the woods watching what's her name practice cutting on the dead walker, guess we'll find out soon.

And the I love you/I hate you crap between Rick and Lori is getting old and boring, it's like some daytime soap opera..............

Glad to see the series retained it's edge and didn't go down the easy 'let's unite against the bad guys' theme. I was a little surprised that the prisoners were killed off like that but happy that the series remained in character. I like the hard edge without comprimise story line. I will be interested to see where the other story line with the ninja woman is going. I wonder if it will stay seperate or if they will all cross paths? I agree with George that the husband/wife strife is a bit old. Keep waiting for her to get bitten and hubby being the one to give her the axe, as it were. The perfect ending. -- Al

Woods watcher??? My guess it's Merrel/Murrell or what ever Darrel's brother's name was. He has to be coming back sometime with his one arm.
I had to laugh when the original gang is telling the con's how to kill the Zombies and to stick together and then on the first confortation they just like go all "gang fighting" on them. One guy pulls a shank out of his sock I think and starts gut stabb'n. Hilarious!
I know they are all infected but can't they at least wash some of the blood off them?? Especially when Glenn and Maggie start kissing on each other's neck in this years season opener after they get settled into there new jail cell. Gross!
Also did anyone notice Carl's silenced gun? It's an inverted flashlight taped on the end of the gun. Not sure what Rick had on his but it was also some fabricated cylinder. Speaking of young Carl....does that hat get bigger with each episode????
All and all entertaining show to say the least. Close combat Zombie killing is the norm this season. Great effects and make-up.

I caught the 1st episode last night and I'm going to watch the second tonight. I really like the show. I noted the observation of the general filth of the survivors by Fullyautomatic as well. I would be looting clean clothes when I could. Maybe survivors would go crazy or tribal with outlandish clothes, weapons and even face pant as in "Lord Of the Flies." The women with the Samurai sword could be an example. Using the police shields and armor is another.
