I am going to post this as what I have to say is not political even though some will make it. When I grew up, I was told to respect law enforcement. I had family in law enforcement. I don't understand why it is a hard concept. Law enforcement, right or wrong, in the moment IS the authority. If something is wrong, the idea is that our judicial system will figure it out. Fast forward to today, why would it ever be a good idea to get in a vehicle and go interfere where an enforcement procedure is underway. Are we now going to have average citizens think its ok to ram police cars while they are serving a warrant? Where is the common sense. IF the enforcement is later deemed not to be right, then all parties walk away unharmed physically. Instead, when someone who has no business or involvement inserts themselves in a situation and causes a life/death situation, the result is you do not walk away. PERIOD. This is not a debate, b/c if it is, then we have truly lost our way when an average citizen thinks its ok to jump in and create a life/death situation. This is the true epitome in my opinion of the acronym you never want to do - FAFO Doing something completely idiotic and consciously making the decision to do it can result in your death and that is on you.
Mike we all have opinions on this. She should have just complied. She didn't her choice. She put an officer in the situation. He didn't. Look her up really research her and her wife. Their activities speak volumes. Like I said and I really beleive this FAFO is a choice that unfortunately some peole take and do not consider the consequences.I am 100% pro police...always taught to say “yes sir and no sir”. Respect the officer. Never argue and never agitate a policeman. Do what he says and have your day in court. Being a cop is a terrible job. I would never do it. Especially in Texas where Abbott decreed in 2021 that any person over 21 without a felony can carry a gun. A policeman in Texas has to assume every car he pulls over has a weapon. Before you judge a cop for excessive force, you should walk in their shoes and deal with what they have to deal with. A very dangerous job so I give them a wide berth on force. Cook was not there protesting anything, she had just dropped her 6 year old son off at school. I have watched the video of the shooting a dozen plus times, even in slow motion. Within 10 minutes after the shooting, Kristi Noem was doing damage control claiming the ICE officer was run over. Not true, watch the video and believe your eyes not Noem’s rendition of what happened. He was never on the ground as Cook veered her wheels to the right to exit the scene as one ICE officer directed her. The ICE officer that shot her stood by the front left bumper and side stepped, allowing her to pull away, never being run over and then moved to her driver’s window maybe 3 feet from her and shot her in the face executing her. The officer was never hit by her car and walked away from the shooting without even the slightest limp in his gait. Watch the video objectively, and you will see this. Immediately after he killed her he was whisked away from the scene. To add insult to injury, within 30 minutes the FBI revoked any access to the investigation. He should of let her dive away and they could have “peacefully arrested” later. Now she is dead.
I also point you yo the other incident in Portland yesterday. After initial idiotic comments by politicians, the occupants of the car were Venezuelan gang members and supporters. Amazing how quiet it gets when the facts come out.
Bottom line, comply with law enforcement and you do not have issues.
As a side note, I am licensed to carry im 38 or so States. I take that very seriously. I was pulled over for speeding on the way to the shore. I put my hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2. Officer approached, it was at night and I could see he was wary. We talked and i provided my docs as well as informed him of the location of my firearm. He appreciated that and he checked my permit etc. Long story short, he gave me a verbal warning and thanked me for my behavior. In other words, if you follow directions, there is zero problem.
Tom
